The new look Horse & Hound is on sale now. It's got all the things readers enjoy so much, but now contains much more.

The new design is more accessible, has more news coverage, more results, more expert insight and analysis. There is also more in-depth reports, with increased analysis and extra space for results, plus additional focus on the major equestrian events of the year.

Today's issue is also the first of our three-part Show Guides and comes with an exclusive Horse & Hound wall planner.

Don't miss it!

I liked it better before.

Ditto this; I was really disappointed when I first saw it. Reminds me of the old Horse & Pony format; I think it looks a bit shoddy!

[QR] Same old opposition to change that has plagued forward thinking people/instituitions etc throughout history - OK, maybe a tad melodramatic LOL!

As a forward thinker

I rather liked it - refreshing!

I liked it, actually was more evolution than revolution I thought!

I really liked the new profile slot which featured Laura B and the new look news pages.

One thing I found a bit disappointing was the letters page - I don't know if it was a one off, but less letters and less punchy.

Another niggle, the new format for the celebrity columns means they get a bit lost on the page - I found them a bit difficult to find. (And can't you get a more interesting dressage columnist than Pammy Hutton!? She always says the same sort of thing in the same haranguing tone!?)

I agree I like the new format, with the exception of the rider comments pags - we used to get a full page now only half - I really enjoy these!!

Lots of photos but please do not turn into one of those celebrity Horse Mags where we find out what riders eat for breakfast - we have enough of those!!

Good reporting on the major events and news on our amateurs and up coming stars would be better - it is what you are known for!!

I like it a lot - the design is sharper, far more contemporary than the late-80s look of the previous one. The font seemed clearer, but that may be an optical illusion (Is it the same?) and the pages have the illusion of more space while actually packing in more. The level of journalism is sharp - it always was, but the article on Isabel Werth's trainer was particularly good - and the extra content very welcome

one thing I missed was the coloured tabs at the page tops so that when it's late at night and I want to find the dressage, I just turn to the navy blue section that I can see even with it closed. Took a while to find it last night- but I guess I'll get used to that. A triangle in a corner wouldn't look out of place, though, and would help later when showing and endurance (and maybe TREC and Reining?) come in as the season progresses

good though, well worth the effort it must have taken

Mega apologies for hijacking this thread but how do I post a new thread on this forum. I don't seem to have the option!
Advice gratefully received and sorry once again!

There was a lot of hype about this 'New look', which I'm not that enamoured with really.

There wasn't a mention of the increase in price was there!!!!
Then again there never is, it just happens....

I think that some of the content is great, but obscured by what I thought was (sorry) a real dog's breakfast of a design. Many of the pages were so crammed with "stuff" - brief reports, different fonts, photos, that the overall look was messy and cheap - one really important USP for H&H in the market is the quality of the magazine, and I don't think that the new design in any way reflects this. Far from looking up-to-date and contemporary, it looks rather old-fashioned and tabloid to me .... surely the wrong way to go??? I was looking forward to something that would be coherent, really accessible, where fonts and layouts were simple, high impact, clean design, complementing great pics and reports. This is really not a moan from someone who dislikes change, far from it - I was really looking forward to the new look, and feel very disappointed

rufusbluemoon, that was very well put. I agree whole heartedly. If I wanted to buy Horse magazine I would. Does make me wonder if I'll bother with my subscription, especially as there is a new British Breeding magazine being launched and I already get BD magazine
