My big lorry went yesterday and my new one ready to be converted arrived last night!!
Im so excited. Im very lucky as my husbands doing it (he does it for a living)
Spent last night looking at some to get ideas as to what to do as its a blank canvas. Unfortunately though cause I need to use it I will be going to some events in what looks like a delivey van with windows as respray is last!

Anyone got a 3.5 ton with living that can tell me anything to not be without or not do, Its always good to hear others views.
Mines a Iveco 3.5 with luton. So far we are considering herringbone rather than front facing for horses??

I dont want a side ramp but will if I have to.
Also anyone know any good parts or secondhand dealers / spares / breakers
Thanks

only seem 5 tonners with living, not 3.5 tonnes
Fridegs nad cookers, cupboards etc, all heavy so eat into the payload too much, so keepti very basic

What size horse wil you be taking?

He has worked all that out as he builds them and race trucks for a living along with other things (TVRs Lotus, strtch limos and even airplanes). they tend to use basic fittings usually for campers and caravans.
I ment more layout ideas, He deals with the weight!

You can find them they are around but you usually pay a bit more for a smaller one. I previously had a 5700 ton unladen so 7.5ton non HGV. but found it hard work.

I only want somewhere to sleep ( the luton bit)and some storage, and to make a cup of tea, hate buying it a comps

Herringbone wont work if you ahve a large horse. They are not normally wide enough to accomodate it. Side ramps are also the best option when travelling large horses. Best way is have a side ramp with a tack locker at the back. You can the choose to have a "barrier" at the front so they can go fiont facing, or build it so the can stand with their head over the locker for rear facing. Mine is front facing, and has a small "Living" to get changed, but would be better rear facing as at the moment hayledge gets everywhere in the "living" so unless you want hayledge in your tea, is a bit of a faff! The luton can easily be slept on though.

Ok Kat thanks for that. We have seen one with just a rear ramp so they unload backwards like the old trailers too, Mine would be ok with this, though side ramp does sound like the better option.
