No not the blood bank dogs ......could quite see their potential and the moral acceptability of it, but the organ transplants sounded unsupportable to me morally. It certainly appeared to make Jennifer Saunders squirm with discomfort when the subject came .
I saw this, very interesting and they said It is being done in America already (of course). I'm sure a lot of people would feel uneasy about transplants for pets but surely that is how everyone felt about transplants for humans when they first became possible. And now it is widely accepted that transplants are a wonderful thing and we are even encouraged to carry a donor card. If one of my young dogs for example got injured or became ill and had a good chance of making a full recovery from a transplant then I have to say I would seriously consider it.
I have heard through rumour that some of the transplants in america came from shelter dogs waiting to be pts.I did read one story of a couple whose dog had a kidney transplant and they then also adopted the pound dog that gave the kidney.which was lovely....but it doesnt sit very well with me to be using the organs of strays though....in a practical sense they are going under anaesthetic anyway to be pts and wont know any pain but I just find it a bit disconcerting.
Having watched this show again tonight, I think there is a scam/policy to "entertain" a sensible person, tonight it was Jeremy Paxtons' turn and a fluffy animal hugger/charity sort of person..... tonight a seal man.
