the "other" horse and a hoof question

Aye - the contracted heel houses a week caudal hoof and internal structures. It's inevitable with long term shoeing.

I understand I am sounding fanatical right now, but shoes DO cause damage. The balance needs to be struck between performance and health in order to stave off future pathologies. And when horses have hooves so sick that they cannot manage without shoes - then there are some pretty sick hooves there already.

Walking toe-first long term, due to a weak caudal hoof, puts strain on the joints, ligaments and tendons.

Really? an over expanded hoof is weaker in caudal aspect, I know I have dissected enough not just read about it. Are you saying that shoeing causes the contraction? I can certainly show you just as many High low or contracted feet in unshod horses.
It is very rare for a contracted hoof to land toe first, but you do say weak in the caudal aspect and as that is usually the over expanded foot then yes they do land more often toe first.
Just repeating stuff with no comprehension looks clever but I will gladly be there to guide you through the bits you have wrong.

I'm sorry - I really can't understand your post.

Please don't be arrogant enough to presume you know everything and others know nothing. That doesn't serve your purpose and there is room in this world for the both of us.

The OP's horse has sick hooves, caused by poor farriery in Dubai. I am suggesting the answer is to allow the hoof time to heal rather than rushing to put special shoes on. The point is mute as the OP will (quite rightly) follow veterinary advice. But I am entitled to my view, as are you.

Please try to appreciate this and take a polite "I disagree with you because..." approach to posting, rather than trying to flex your muscles. I have reminded you of this before, in case you have forgotten.

There's no need to be rude! Just because you disagree with Oberon doesn't give you the right to mock what's been said. For what it's worth I've found Oberon's help and advice really useful, and I'm sure many others have too. Please don't try to heavy handedly push someone's opinions to one side just because you disagree.

If it weren't for Oberon telling me about the barefoot experiences I seriously doubt I'd have a sound horse coming home soon.

You have the right to disagree not to be patronising and rude.
