I have the perfect horse.

But she's only a yearling at the moment so plenty of time for things to go wrong...

In most ways my horse is my perfect horse. He's great on the flat, likes jumping but doesn't like it so much that I think I'm wasting him by not doing loads of it, loves hunting, is nice to handle, generally a nice sort to have around and very sweet. The only thing I would change is that I'd love him to be a hand smaller. I'm 5ft4 and at nearly 17.1hh, he's a big chap and really too big for me. Thankfully he's only ever been ridden by small women so he's easy enough to deal with, but if I had to pick at something, it would be height.

Next time around I'll be looking for another IDxTB but a hand smaller if poss!

Am on the third perfect one. Middle one's occasional bucking may not have been totally perfect but I still have him after 17 years so he must have been doing something right.

I'm really heartened to hear that there can be more than one perfect horse in a lifetime. My old PBA gal has been perfect for me - light enough to ride classically, sparky enough to be fun, and sensible enough to hack through a field of stampeding heifers in a force nine gale (albeit it in very bouncy shoulder-in). But her sarcoids have worsened considerably this last year and it's really hard to be optimistic about the future...
