So I've been looking on the internet at websites with horses for sale, and found a 'selection' of horses with videos on youtube.

But some of the horses on the videos don't match the horses shown in the still pictures in the same clip....should I be suspicious......?

And some of the horses have the same picture but different names.....?

And when you go to view, you'll maybe meet a third horse! I'd steer clear, sounds like it could be dodgy dealers masquerading as private sellers and using same pics and videos for each one.

If it is a video for a single horse for sale, then yes, I would be suspicious  Are they definitely not the same horse, not just taken at different times? (colour change summer/winter or just really old pics!)

I do see the occasional advert where quite clearly they have googled to find a picture of a similar (but better) horse and then put that in the ad - the most recent was a lovely haflinger gelding, but it seems really common in Fresians too.

Some websites just put a 'stock' picture of a horse on their site if they haven't got round to getting proper pictures, but it is usually made very clear when they have done so.

Are the videos all from the same place?

The best tactic advertise a horse gets lots of interest gets buyers, buyer gets there horse has sold but there are plenty of others to choose from.

Yes all the videos are from the same place, it's like a little movie clip....there are quite a few videos of different horses in an outdoor jumping paddock and an indoor school with jumps set out. It has the name of the horse first then a short video of the horse jumping interluded with still images. The horse jumping for example has socks, yet the horse pictured does not....or it has a star etc yet the one pictured doesn't.

Further on in the video for example there is another Bay jumping but uses the same still image as the previous horse video....

i watched that vid too

also did you notice every third beat in trot they jolt the camara??? that makes me suss too!

im gonna have to look at it again i think as its the bay that stood out the most as the same horse different name x2!!

crazy and scary to say the least mrs j

Sounds shambolic, even if it isn't 'dodgy' :( What sites are you looking for on your horse searches? I like Horsequest and the Pony Club sales site is quite good too. Or the BE or BD forum if you want something to do a specific discipline :)

I looked on the Pony Club site, on the classifieds on here, also good old google on horse dealers. I like the idea of being able to view lots of different ones in one hit, especially if I am going to travel to see them.

I'm not really after a horse to follow a specific discipline...more of what they class as an 'all rounder' I guess

I was worried about this with my boy when I was looking at videos of him, however turns out he has half a white sock, looks like a full one from the nearside but looks like he doesn't have one at all from the offside, took me a while to figure it out :)

What sort of size/age/budget are you looking for? And what area are you in? Lots of us like looking for adverts, so may be able to help you. :)

The video was front on jumping, two white socks above his hooves, clear as day....still picture of him standing again front on....no socks....
