Got heckled this afternoon by a group of schoolkids playing football - "Oi, your dog's having a *****, aren't you going to clean it up?". I'm standing there, poo bag on hand, waiting for her to finish - what did they want me to do, catch it as it came out her ass? Funnily enough this is the same park that recently took down its dog waste bin, leaving just two litter bins to be used.

Anyway, it got me wondering, would you say anything if you saw someone not picking up after their dog? I've never actually caught someone doing it, just come across the great soft piles of evidence all over the place, but am not sure I'd actually have the gumption to have a go. That is, unless I find out who it is who lets their dog **** multiple times in the middle of a very slippery narrow path right near our house - hanging would be too good for them...

I was also going to have a rant about National Trust properties never having poo bins available in their car parks, only to read on the website that they would rather one flicked it into the undergrowth. Fair enough in the woods, I suppose, just thought they'd be a bit more militant about actually picking up.

I think I'd just politely ask whether they intended on picking up after their dog rather than letting someone tread it into the house?
The best I've had was when we were stood near my house on the way back from a walk, and my Goldie squatted for a wee and someone shouted to me "I hope you're going to pick that up!" - er, sorry? what do you want me to do? Stick my leg under her and soak it up on my jeans?!

Oh i tell people all the time!

Most people only walk their dogs round the block here so when they poop its on the sidewalk where lots of kids play.

We have lots of bins with bags at the bin and gloves and spray bottles to spray where they pee or poop if its on the sidewalk.

I actually had the dog warden thank me a couple of times when he has seen me ask other people to pick up after their dogs.

I actually don't have issue with not picking it if it is in woods/long grass and out of the way of the public footfall. The way I see it, why put a biodegradeable substance into a non-biodegradable plastic bag and fill up landfill if it's not required ....

That said I am meticulous for clearing on public areas and footpaths and yes I probably would approach someone if I saw them letting their dog foul without clearing it.

Actually a couple of years back I was at Barbury Castle watching the horse trials. They have a lovely mown grassy bank overlooking the sj main arena that had a number of spectators. One such spectator's dog, proceeded to dump in the middle of this area. They gave an embarrassed hang of head and shuufled out the way. I proceeded to get up and hand them a bag in front of everyone .....

I have offered people poo bags before now when it is blatantly obvious they aren't going to pick up after their dogs. They have always taken them and made a pathetic attempt to pick up, can tell they are not practised :D
I will do the old "stick and flick" if I am near a hedgerow, but do pick up in fields since I was made aware that poo in silage can cause problems for cattle.

I told a 'beefy big man' to pick up after his GSD. He told me to f off, so I did say I'd report it to the warden. He huffed and puffed while I handed him a bag.. but it did the trick and he did appologise and continue to pick it up.

And why then hang it up on a tree or a fence post? That one makes me most mad of all, utterly pointless, might as well leave the damn thing in the middle of the path for all the good that does.

I'm lucky, I suppose, in that since we've changed Dax's diet her poos are very small and very firm so can be kicked into the undergrowth on the rare occasion she goes on a path. I'd like to see the aftermath of kicking a wet bloaty orange poop. :D

Yeah we kick into the hedge when we are out in the forest ect.
And i use bio-degradable bags for when we are around town.

It really winds me up that so few people scoop on a bit of open heathland near to my house, as there are no paths, there is little long undergrowth, and therefore a person in the habit of wandering along lost in thought like me is at high risk of squelchy incident!

However where possible I prefer to flick into a hedge - always have a bag handy though.

Barney preferred to go actually in the canal - those were the days, no disposal required at all:D

Have bags, will travel, but if they do it in the side of a hedge or a verge in the middle of nowhere then it's buried, flicked or kicked (depending on consistency for the latter, have come home with very poo-y shoes before now :o)

A subject close to my heart today of all days.

Our council have provided us with a dog walking area around the main park. It's wonderful, the only place in the area that is completely safe, escape free, but where you don't feel fenced in. The dogs can have a good run and socialise, there's poo bins everywhere, benches, lots of trees and it's well maintained. There's even a little cafe close by with outside seating and water bowls.

So WHY do people let their dogs sh** on the footpath in there?? WHY????

Both my kids had sh***y shoes by the time we got to the other end today, and we spent the walk home trying to scrape / wipe it off on verges.:mad::mad:
