. He still eating and drinking, but drinking more than usual. Has seriously bad breath, which he only gets when he's poorly and has for the last couple of nights howled until late 10/11pm. Normally he goes to bed at about 6pm and once he's had his jammies on and been tucked in he sleeps all the way through till 5.30am. He's also got blood in his poo's and they've changed to a random greeny yellow colour. He's off to the vets tomorrow afternoon to be checked out, but has anyone's dog suffered anything similar...?

Hmm, our oldish (12yo) x was in a similar state last year, he didn't want to eat a lot, drank a fair bit but generally was just feeling very sorry for himself, he kept asking to be let out every 5 mins. He was pooing blood and at one stage he was vomiting up anything (inc water) and pooing liquid blood!! It was horrid, vets gave him jabs to stop him vomiting along with various other things.

We had electrolytes to put in his water to stop him becoming dehydrated etc. He just didn't seem to get much better though. We feared something awful was wrong but vets x-rayed him and found nothing untoward, took blood tests and nothing was found.

One evening though he started limping a bit on and off - not very badly) and I checked his paw as I would usually - couldn't feel anything but then i put my fingers right down the pads in the middle of his foot and felt something hard. I pulled it out and it turned out to be a huge thorn!!! I think possibly blackthorn and was just after i had read stories on here about how badly they can affect animals and humans should they penetrate the skin. I am convinced it was the toxins in this that had caused him to be so ill as then he perked up again and has been fine since!

It could be a number of things - have you checked his gums? I did so much reading at the time about his symptoms and it suggested if the gums were very dark red (our dogs were) then it suggested something toxic in the blood.

Sorry am not much help but it can be so many things (so I discovered) that cause these problems in dogs. Hope you get to the bottom of it.
