The Pure Feed Company, is it worth the price per bag?

I want to change my feed to something very basic this year for my cobXwarmblood mare as all she will be doing is hacking and light schooling due to my pregnancy. She's currently on top spec joint balancer alfa-a oil linseed and performance cubes all slowly being reduced apart from the balancer. Im tempted by the pure feed range but it just seems expensive for how much you have to feed. What are peoples thoughts on it and have people fed anything alongside during the colder months as I tend to give speedibeet if she starts to drop off. :)

Mine was on pure feed for a couple of years, we used Pure Easy. I did put speedy beet with it for a couple of months. We are not on it now as Jay Man put on weight, was happy, and now has not had any hard feed at all for 6 months!

ETA - OH says to say, we tried the energy level up from Easy, and it sent Jay scatty!

Yeah was looking at either the Easy or Fibre one but the price is so steep for one bag unless I'm looking in the wrong place! How long did a bag last and did you feed by the recommended scale? I personally only feed balancers by the recommended scale and other feeds start small and increase if needed.

if you read the ingredients, it seems to be a balancer mixed with grass chaff and oat straw with some soya oil? Seems a bit pricey for what it is though I appreciate some people like having a complete feed in one sack.
Couldn't you stick with a balancer if you are happy with that and then add your own basic chaff (& speedibeet if you wished)? FWIW I feed the everyday balancer from Horse and Pony Direct (which is a fair bit cheaper esp if you buy 3 bags at a time) and then add redigrass or graze on.

I know lots of people who feed wheat feed?? for weight gain, am I missing something??

Mother Nature is a genius. She evolved horses to eat grasses, browse, herbage and drink clean water. And that’s it. No chemical processing, no pesticides, no fungicides (killing those precious hind gut microbes that control our metabolism), no high nitrate fertilisers, no bedding coated in weedkillers to nibble on.

I feed Pure Feed and my horse has never looked better - wish I'd found it before! It helps that I get it free of course..... ;)
