There's no cow on the ice
I'm part of HHO Secret Santa, one question on the Hints &Tips thread is if you have any nice pictures of your pets. I have nice pictures of Blomma, and Fröjdis, already posted on last years H&T thread, but I needed a good photo of my new kitten Essy for this year's thread.
I have several blankets, so I held up a few towards Essy, and decided that my only purple blanket was the one that made her look the best. So I draped the purple blanket over my sofa, hanged up a dangly cat toy in the ceiling lamp to give her something to look at (it's not the first time I try to get a nice cat photo after all), went and got Essy, and sat her down on the blanket to take some pictures.
I don't know why, I've always had one or two other blankets on the sofa since she came, but I haven't had the purple one on the sofa before, and for whatever reason, Essy acted as if this blanket was lava.
I put her on the blanket, held up my phone to take a picture, and if I was quick enough, I got a blurry photo before she tried to escape.
Then Fröjdis realised that someone else than her was getting spotlight, so she decided to join us. Fine I thought, I'll just place Essy next to her, and take a picture of both of them.
But now Essy had started to get the hang of that as soon as I grabbed my phone, my hands were busy, and she could escape, so all I got was Fröjdis + a tail/paw/tail+bum of Essy, or no Essy at all, when she as quickly as possible tried to disappear off the lava blanket (and we're not going to talk about some of the poses Fröjdis thought was suitable for the camera).
(Isn't that last photo great? Too bad it's the wrong cat!)
But I didn't give up that easily. Later I eventually managed to get some more of only Essy, only to afterwards realise that the light was too bright for Essy's beige coloured parts.
The two best photos that far, was one who lacks a bit sharpness
And this one, even though it maybe looks as if she thinks I'm about to stab her with something
At some point, I also got this slightly blurry side-eye, probably thinking "Why am I on this blanket, again?"
Another day I hung up the blanket in another room, and this time got a set with first too dark photos, followed by a less dark photo, but with a somewhat blurry face, and a front paw placed in a bit wonky looking position:
However, I finally did also get these two photos, which I quite like, so I think I'll post one or both on the HHO SS thread (and/or perhaps together with the earlier photo which I described as lacking a bit sharpness):
In the end, Essy seemed to give up, and decided that if she had to be stuck on this blanket, she might as well follow Fröjdis example of taking care of her personal hygiene in front of the camera
*Sigh* I don't understand how pet photographers don't go completely insane.
P.s. While I was busy writing this post, my eraser "developed legs", and seems to have walked out to our hallway. I think it have a few more cat teeth marks now than what it had when I solved a crossword this morning.
