I decided not to go for a hack because the cloud was very low and where we hack would have been foggy. Plus, it's been chucking it down for days and i didn't fancy getting caught out in it on the moors.
So out came the jumps for the first time since March
First i had to catch the little sod though
He's never bad to catch, so i don't know what was wrong with him... but i was chasing him round for half an hour! But he wasn't getting out of work so even though i felt like i had been at the gym by the time he was tired enough to give up, we tacked up and went in.
Was so fun! Just put up a really tiny straight, and 2 poles on the circle, because steering tends to go haywire when jumps are up and we need practice. But he was a superstar and we managed to get some fab work, on the flat and over the poles and jumps. I'm so pleased with him, he tried so hard for me, even with his bestfriend colt hanging over the fence watching from his field.
I used to hate jumping, who would have thought a daft ginger Arab could give me so much confidence.
The jumps are going higher next week, and i'm actually excited with no hint of fear.
Sorry for the self indulgent post, feel free to add any of your happy posts from today. Oh, and have some choccies and wine
