I am wanting to break my Dartmoor Hill Pony to harness but he keeps chomping and getting his tongue over the bit, he starts to do this as soon as I put the bridle on him. I have tried a fulmer with a lozenge and a straight bar Liverpool Driving Bit. Has anyone any advice please

There’s a few types to chose from

First muse absolutely sure the bit is fitted correctly so that the sides of the mouth are slightly crinkly (if you see what I mean)

I have a tongue port but I have been told it should only be used on a temporary basis until a bit has been found. When I put the bit in there are two wrinkles at the side of his mouth.
