So, for those of you who've been before, what's the shopping like? and it seems like there's going to be loads to see so what are the best things to make sure I don't miss? ooo and what's the parking like?

ooo and another one: what does one wear?! (I'm thinking wellies...)

Is anyone else going?

I think the Royal starts on Monday - (unless you mean Hickstead which is on Sunday).
Anyway - the Royal has fabulous shops - not just horsey, but lots of other things as well. Very well to do - not dissimilar to Burghley. Lots of nice house things. Loads of farming stuff as well. Take walking shoes as it is an enormous site - especially getting from the car park to the main arenas!

Echo the comfy shoes....you need to pace yourself as there really is a HUGE amout of stuff to see at The Royal. Shopping is great and cetainly a Show I have had no problems taking the aged parent to. Its not all horsey (which can be a problem when you have a 'normal' person with you.) Lots of interesting things to see and do and spend money on.

You will have a wonderful day Im sure.

The Royal Show is great. I have been going there since I was a child and I have always loved it. It is a big show and one of my earliest memories is of getting lost there. My parents were talking to a friend who was selling tractors and I got bored and wandered off. I can still remember sitting on the floor crying and wishing I'd stayed near the boring tractors!

Hardley any tractors now, so that is why farmers don't go, so not much chance of a wealthy landowner. Used to be the farmers' toyshop.

Fantastic all weather arena and wonderful horse show and displays last time I went.

I shall be wearing my muck boot co boots I think - they are the comfiest footwear I own.

Do the "shops" take cards or will I need to take cash?

Really could do with finding The Mother a wealthy landowner.
