I'm looking to sell a showing saddle and a side saddle. I've seen adverts for The Saddle Bank, what are peoples opinions please?

Thank you

Not used before but I've always got a lot more for a showing saddle selling on the showing Facebook groups just before the season starts when people are scrambling around for tack! I have always taken via Paypal to be careful of scammers. Would be more hassle than Saddle Bank but often Saddle Bank/saddles direct don't offer very much!

I sold mine through Saddles Direct so not quite what you were asking, but it was straightforward. It did take months to sell though which put me off doing it again. They offer you a direct sell to them or sell via them with commission. I chose the second option but with the delay, wish I’d chosen the first.

I got a quote from them for my saddles but didn't think much of the quote, so just sold via ebay- but then of course, you incur fees

for a showing saddle i'd use facebook, you'll get more money

Your side saddle get on the side saddle facebook groups people will travel a long way for them.

As for the saddle bank they are really good. I sold through them and sold a nearly new but very difficult to sell due to its shape saddle. It took a while to sell but the process was brilliant.

Also remember showing season is coming up and people will be after showing saddles.

Daughter sold her Kent and masters through them…obviously you don’t get full market value but they were easy to deal with and money credited to her account the day they received and checked the saddle.

No experience with Saddle Bank but used Saddles Direct to sell two a couple of years ago. Neither were a known make and one had been made to measure (20 years ago) so they didn't give me the option to sell to them direct. But I took the commission option and both sold in around 6 months. I wasn't in a hurry so that was fine. I got less for them than I could have if I'd put them on Facebook or similar, but I couldn't be bothered and I didn't want people on the yard coming to try it on for size etc. They were easy enough to deal with, and (at my cost) arranged the courier. Who actually turned up when they were supposed to and helped me lift the boxes into his van (it was as we were coming out of Covid so I expected him to refuse to come over the threshold!). I'd use again if I needed to, as long as my sale wasn't time dependent.

I've not used saddle bank, bit ove had a good experience with sheepham saddles.
They sold it on a commission basis. I'd failed to sell on marketplace, took it to them ( they are reasonably local)
She advertised it for more than I had on marketplace, so by the time commission was taken off I still ended up with roughly what I wanted for it 🙂

I’ve bought from Sheepham saddles in the past, have also used the Saddle bank. Obviously you get less if selling to them as they check and advertise the saddles etc.
