the saddle fitter came today

and she had nothing wide enough to fit my welsh d mare so she is still saddleless, shes coming back tomorrow with more saddles (sorry rather pointless post but its very frustrating as i would like to get on and ride)

Have you tried the new Wintec Wide? It's massively wide and comes with 4 (could be 5) interchangeable gullets that make tiny differences if the horse cganges shape. Very affordable £350 brand new.

I have a wide pony too - Ideal's do a H&C, designed for the more cobbie shape. Unfortunatly, mine is wide but not that shape!

I have a Thorowgood Cob X wide and absolutely love it. It fits Fat Cob like a glove and is the comfiest saddle I have sat on.

The cob fit is great for horses with low withers.

Can't recommend it highly enough and you can get them for between £200 and £350 on line so I would barter with the saddlery if they get hold of one

the saddler tried one but it was too narrow for her royal roundness,
the wow didnt fit either
she had an ambassador saddle which was the best fit but wasnt flat enough for her back

Thorowgood do a cob plus saddle now (as well as the usual cob one), upto xxwide. It is designed with slimmer panels, so great for very round cob types that often need to go treeless.

Shame your not closer you could have tried mine I have a Ideal H&C xxw saddle wide seat its huge!! Its now way too wide for my slim coblet and im waiting to trade it in!! If my new saddle ever bl@@dy arrives that is!!
