As title. Any experiences of this bit?

The ported comfort snaffle with hooks did bu**er all, so bit bank lady is sending me this.

Looks scary

Phew what a relief...have been a bit worried since I spoke to her! Not sure the Fat One is going to know what has hit him.

I think me telling her that the only way I could keep hold off him on Sunday, was to bridge my reins, prob lead to her choosing this one

I didn't think the ported snaffle would work for you. On Spot who is the strongest horse alive for Xc we use a ported pelham, and then we used to use a high ported combination myler with very long shanks for SJ. But where he has become politer/more balanced he is now in a myler combination with tripple barrel mouthpiece. Really liked the mylers they are a lot kinder than they look

Seriously they are not as barbaric as they look - they just work on more than one area at a time (namely mouth, poll, nose to put it simply) - just ensure you dont have the nose too loose (otherwise it will slip over the soft nasal area - big no-no) and you will be fine - light hands, good seat - sorted

I want one, but with the low port comfort snaffle mouthpiece. Not sure I'll ever be able to justify buying though. No experience though, sorry!

They are on ebay a lot. If you know anyone in the states they are about half the price over there because of the exchange rate.

Enfys still has one! Not that I need it now, but you never know, someday it may come in handy again.

I can't see any of mine now needing this although I ride Robin in some sort of curb (don't ask it's what she came with and was used to) I don't need to touch her mouth, I can hear Instructors all over the UK yelling "Washing lines! Pick up your reins!"

Not a ported one though. I used it with double reins and my nutcase (out in company, Sarah can vouch for that) arab was a poppet and we had fun again. He liked it, I liked it, although he was used to the nose action because at home he went in a hackamore, when I tried a pelham with double reins he sat down and refused to go forwards at all.

Horses for courses, Druid borrowed it to try on Sparks and it didn't suit her at all. definitely try before you buy if you can because they are pricey, but worth it.

Ebay eh? Wonder what the postage to the UK would be? Hmmmmmmmm,
* scurries off to eBay.* Canadian eBay is rubbish

How can such a huge country have so little horsey stuff

I have used that on my first mare (she leaned really badly & we used it for about 6 weeks as part of her 're-education') I found it amazing to be honest she was so much lighter in my hands but I didn't buy was lucky enough to be able to borrow

I borrowed a combination snaffle for my mare (big bold mare who hates curb bits, very soft mouth but can pull) and she adored it. I went from using a dutch gag, to the myler and then when I returned it to my friend I put the horse back into a french link loose ring and have had no probs. I will eventually intend to get a combination for her as it made a noticeable difference to our steering - they're lovely bits, and I hope you get on ok with yours.
