Dogs that is....we already have a steady flow...but no room...so unfortunatley alot will suffer for it.

There has been 3 dogs in a space of 3 days dumped at my vets..a greyhound, German Shepherd and a Staffi.....no doubt to make room for the new
crazy.gif

My mam had 3 dumped on her on christmas eve

A terrier, beagle and a little x breed.

I wonder how many more are filling up the rescues

who knows...why these toss*rs dump their dogs.
1...was a young lad...that dropped a terrier off at the vets...it was about 13 months old....he said....his sister told him to get rid....as they had no where to keep it whilst they went away over christmas....and they had a puppy....which of course...they where able to take with them
crazy.gif

The lad...seemed upset...very young...he left his sisters details.....no one has been able to contact her.
The vets have passed the information onto the RSPCA...who said.....if someone could keep it..they would look into abandonment after christmas.
I wont be HOLDING my breath...thats for sure

People make me sick, but looks like most have now got the message that a puppy is not just for Christmas........

and should last at least till Boxing day!!!
tongue.gif

You too then. We have stray dogs coming out of our ears at WL and conveniently the Dog Warden switched his phone off over Christmas and has now seemed to taken to doing it at weekends too. AAARRRGH!
mad.gif

Even more annoying the Springer Spaniel we had handed in is chipped but the people must of moved and not changed their details as the phone numbers on the chip come up not recognised.

Cala that is so sad!! Poor little mite, how can you just get rid of a dog? They're like a friend or a family member or atleast that is how we think of them!

I just don't get it and never will. The worst thing is the people that dumped the terrier will be dumping the new pup too, and the next one..........

I've been trying to find an elderly dog for a friend of my mums and have just heard of one that's being taken in by a local rescue tomorrow because a couple have split up and their 8 yr old dog is being kicked by the wifes new 'friend'. Don't know who's worse, him or a woman who gives house room to a man that kicks her dog
mad.gif
Luckily someone has stepped in a taken the dog away so she's safe although appears to have been kicked hard enough to make her slightly incontinent.

Yep...its hard to believe after so long people can discard of a dog so easily.....I will be worried sick...thinking where and what it was doing
frown.gif

Yes our latest addition is a little staffie cross that was knocked over on Easington Lane - no where near any houses so looks like he was dumped. He's probably got a broken pelvis so will be getting x-rayed tomorrow. He's absolutely terrified of everything bless him but a real sweetie. As to what will happen to him once the council take him.....

As usual we had the same old "Christmas clear-out" in the weeks leading up to Christmas and now inundated with pups for vacs as usual.
crazy.gif

Oh and Jason who? I don't know anyone called Jason.

Likewise....his sorry arse wouldn't touch the floor on his way out.

Imagine having a dog for 8 years (the age of the dog I mentioned) and giving her up because because some low life kicks her.

i think most rescues are actually full at the present, not only are they being dunped in pounds and rescues, but people are turning their dogs out and more strays are being found or something like that.

its a shame, when will people ever learn, a dog is for life, not just for christmas
frown.gif

I know... Christmas time is awful for unwanted dogs, and no one seems to get the message that they aren't just for Christmas. I myself got a new puppy shortly before Christmas, but that was just coincidental timing - I plan to keep her 'til the end of her days.

That woman ought to realize, if the guy will kick her dog once the dog is gone he will turn to kicking her!
My latest is a young pit bull! He wandered up to my house before Christmas. I have got a local rescue to pay for his neuter and shots. I will try to find a good home but most likely he will stay here. He is a real sweetie and a bit of a wuss. I told my daughter I was going to train him to attack teenage boys as by the time she begins to date, Tiger will be in his prime. I have 7 dogs, 4 of which were rescued from the side of the road, all are purebreds. I have a gorgeous chocolate lab that appears to be from well bred field lines, an Australian cattle dog, a catahoula, and now the pit bull.

Well its good news about the staffie cross - he had broken his pelvis which should just heal with cage rest and he's going to Stray Aid instead of the pound.

I feel for these poor animals and the people that have to pick up the pieces each year, however, do you know how hard it is to rehome a dog when each organisation insists you dont both work full time!!!

DESPITE HAVING TWO VISITS A DAY FROM A PET SITTER/WALKER and going home for 2 hours between me and my partner to see said doglet!!!

Rescue centres should be more flexible to people that work if they have put in place measures to make sure animals are happy and well cared for.

I can see where your coming from...we hae placed dogs into perfectly good homes that other rescues didnt een get as far as doing a home check.

In some instances u haeto becarefull where u place a dog with a dodgy past otherwise they will bounc back...which is poss the worst thing for the dog.....how ever we normally have a wide variety of dogs that will cope differently in different situations....so we can normally place a dog in most situations......however we mostly match the dog...we dont allow someone to just pick one out...esp if we feel its not suitable.

The staffies owners have come forward (so not dumped just straying) and they are now taking him for the rest of his treatment at the PDSA so you are more likely to see him Cala than me now.
