Anybody???
My coloured cob baby and I have our first dressage tomorrow and I'm desperately trying to make his yellow tail the brilliant white it should be any ideas?
Thanks :-)

There's a thread in NL about this but I use Daz followed by Diamond White shampoo to get it gleaming. But I have heard denture sterilising tablets are fantastic!!

Ditto the above advice, but your best bet is to not let it stain in the first place! I keep my coloureds tail permenantly plaited and soaked in cowboy magic de-tangler!

I have heard using persil tablets and holding the tail in it (not the dock) will get it nice a white.

I also swear by 'touch of silver' shampoo for old ladies! It's mega!!

Good luck!

I've heard that net curtain cleaner is supposed to be good.

Just be really careful when using domestic products, you aren't going to have time to do a patch test!

baby bubble bath (the blue bottle) make sure you rinse really well ,liberally spray with mane and tail ,then whilst still damp rub loads of chalk in. when dry brush and "voila "-white tail :)

Ditto above who said don't let it get stained. My boy's tail is cleaned, conditioned, plaited and lives in a Tailgaitor. It comes out for cos and lessons! I replant it and re bag it every couple of days.

To clean it I use diamond white shampoo, and Red Rum whitening spray afterwards, liberally sprayed on, lathered, and towelled out.

Wonder if they do a leg version :o:D

Does it have to be Heinz or will any brand do?

I assume it's the vinegar in the ketchup that does it - maybe you only need the ketchup water?

well sooooz we all know you love ketchup water so I may have to milk my ketchup for it's water and give it to you for xmas!!! Im sure Betty will appreciate it ;D hahahaha :P
xxxxxxx

My tail is constantly bagged in a waterproof bag, stops any staining and helps keep it thick! It gets washed once a week, just with a normal shampoo and then dunked in a mix of 1l water to 10 capfuls of Bluo. The Bluo is AMAZING! cheap as chips, it's a laundry whitener but isn't a bleach. Then I condition it and use a little Top Tails to keep is detangled.

Before competitions I do the same routine but add in shampoo with an optical brightener.

I think you have to take a close look at the colour of the hairs to see if they will go 'white' or 'silver'. Cruze's hair is transparent, which I think trnaslares to a little yellowing as the hair ages (near the ends), and will there fore never be 'white'.

Have fun!

I wash weekly with a whitening shampoo and use a stain remover dissolved in water as well for shows. Don't allow the stains to build up or they will never leave!

Thanks everyone. Well we must have literally blinded the judge with his whiteness as we managed a 3rd and a 4th, although tests felt horrendous! And we already knew we had much to work on... so promising start for the little man :-)
