Blasted chestnut TB managed to twist a shoe off on Monday, poulticed heavily all day Tuesday, shoe back on this morning courtesy of my lovely farrier. Having been hobbling around yesterday feeling sorry for himself (he's got horrible TB feet and really feels the ground), he promptly hooned off into the sunset with his boyfriend. Ideally I'd like to ride him tonight - could hack or go to a nice indoor school with a good surface but just wondering if I should let him have the day off?

Once the shoe is back on, do you ride straight away or let them rest a bit first?

Personally I would leave it a couple of days, whether he is sound or not. But then again I always tend to be cautious. He was unsound just yesterday after all.

Ride, there's nothing else for it. I have ridden as soon as the lst nail was in the hoof and mine never took ill from it.

Saying that my friends horse had to be left for 24 hours after shoeing.

If he's sound I would ride.
