I collected Amelia at 10am today and ensured she slotted straight into our routine :D Brought her home, let her introduce herself to the others again, then took them all for a walk round Dymock woods - I tried to persuade her to go in the lake after Amy (she has got that vile kennel dog smell!) but although she paddled she wouldnt commit herself :) Came home, popped her in a crate and went to work for a couple of hours! I came back to dead silence (the others were in the kitchen with her for company) - I am going to let my other half talk to the neighbours and find out whether she howled all afternoon!!!! She is an absolute sweetheart who has clearly lived in a home before - she travelled really well in the car but insisted on curling up on the front passenger seat :D

I have already found Amelia is too difficult to call as a name, so I think she will be Millie for short :)

Some pics from today...

She is beautiful. How big is she in relation to a greyhound? What do you think she is 'made' from?

She is smaller than my smallest greyhound - so about 20" or so at the shoulder? I think she is a whippet cross from her behaviour so far, but no idea what the cross might be :D

ah, pretty stripes! Best of luck with her.

She def looks more like a Millie rather than an Amelia :)

Best of luck with her !

Ooops - just thoroughly upset my OH by calling him a ****ing idiot in the heat of the moment - he arrived home carrying a ballot box for the election tomorrow, opened the front door and nearly let Millie out!!!! I nearly had a heart attack, thank goodness he managed to grab her collar before she made a complete dash for freedom.... he is so not a 'dog person'..... maybe I am going to learn tact and diplomacy one day....

Aww racing stripes has landed. Fantastic. She looks so relaxed already.

Give your OH a kick!!! :o

He has had a few reminders of 'priorities for new rescue dogs' tonight :) I have to be fair, he hasn't really lived with dogs before he knew me so I can't really blame him - I was just somewhat stressed about the situation! I keep emphasising the care needed with feeding...toys...house training....doors/gates.... I think he may be learning fast :p

She is gorgeous :)

Silly oh though :( He deserved to be shouted at and let's face it, we always shout more when we are frightened.

I'm so sorry to hear you lost Islay, Millie is beautiful (although I maybe slightly biased as I have a small stripy one too!) I hope she settles in well and look forward to lots of updates, I love reading about your gang!

She's gorgeous, love the kind facial expression - lucky dog and lucky owner by the sounds of how she's settling.

As for your OH, I can give you a well tried and tested script for the sorry-not-sorry apology for after shouting at other half in the moment of risking injury to animal.
