I re-discovered this on Tuesday evening. He really is a most clever pony! We walked along the road to a T-junction, where we cross the road to go into the forest. Well, one of the arms of the junction had a big sign saying "diversion", with an arrow pointing down the road from which we had just come. And the pony spun round to race back the way we had come! What a literate boy! :p I did stop him, and he tried again, but that time, it might have been the green flappy thing on the corner of the road...third time was the charm, however, and we managed to cross the road and continue to our schooling session.

I said it's a re-discovery, because when we were heading along the road to his first party last year, we came to the word "SLOW" in large letters, and he obeyed that directive, too...

What a clever boy! His reading is really coming on - fancy him managing a big word like diversion. That's great progress on last year. Star pupil!

Heehee, you're right, fireflymac! "Diversion" is a MUCH bigger word than "slow". Maybe by next year, he'll manage "large plant crossing", and be on the lookout for giant neeps! :D

The Old Appy could read she and her friend were fed out of identical buckets (old powder paint buckets from mothers school :) ) One had a label on, that was the Old Appy's bucket AND SHE KNEW IT WAS! Mind you she thought Nelly was spelt Reeves, but still very clever. :D The Current Appy can read Stop on the road and obeys if it is newly painted :p :D
