So, upon arriving home from work yesterday evening my husband casually mentioned 'I sorted your Christmas present today', 'oh?' I said, then silence and nothing more was said about it.
Then today whilst at the yard, tucking my pony (a loan) into bed, his owner said 'are there any areas of horse care that you need any more input?', I replied yes, and that I needed to know more about feeding and how to spot when things aren't quite right health wise. And then nothing more was said.
I might be jumping the gun, but I think my husband has bought me my pony for Christmas. And if he has, well :D I shall be the luckiest girl, I've waited 27 years for this moment.

Yes I do hope I am right! If not it's not the end of the world, I have enough saved up to buy him for myself in the spring. But it would be great if I could have him for Christmas. I think of him as mine, but for to actually be mine will just be..just so amazing. My eyes will leak profusely I suspect.

I really hope that's what he has done for you. I thought it was bad enough waiting 21 years for a horse but you have had it worse. I agree with illusion though we need to make him tell us the truth can't wait til Christmas! :p

I don't think even under torture he would talk! I've tried a couple of ways to try and catch him out but to no avail so far.
Yes it would be the buying of my loan pony. He's a cracking little lad and I'd give him a home for life :)

I have news, and I type this message from a shiny new iPhone that was left on the coffee table for me by my hubby.
It would seem that I did jump the gun, and the present my hubby alluded to is this shiny new phone! Not at all disappointed, very pleased with my new phone :)
The pony purchase will be going ahead, and I shall use the money I have saved up to buy him. In a way I'm quite pleased as its a bit 'independent woman' of me to buy my own pony with my own money. And in that, I can calmly inform some members of the family who I'm quite sure will take pleasure in a snotty comment about being spoilt by hubby that 'actually my husband did not buy him for me, i bought him for myself'. :D (but hubby will be helping me towards livery costs! Haha)

So, shall I pop a little bow on pony's forehead when I buy him? I can't imagine he'd tolerate me running around him with a roll of wrapping paper! :D

Why did you get your christmas present a month + early!? What is this strangeness!? :')

Ahh, well I am due to upgrade my phone so I suppose hubby wanted to give me the new phone before I signed up to another contract. He bought the phone from the manufacturer as he says it's cheaper than buying on a contract - and I'll need the £400 odd I'll save (compared to a 24 month contract) to put towards things for my steed!

i think we need a photo of pony when wearing said bow!!

and as for wrapping him up, i saw on facebook last year some one tired to wrap up a cob, thank goodness is was a quiet one!

I definitely will! I think I'll attach a bow to his brow band, or make him look like a girl for a moment and pop a bow in his forelock for some snaps.
I don't think my lad would take kindly to being wrapped up, he'd definitely try and eat the paper!

OMG I would be so bratty about this, something along the lines of "I wanted a pony and you got me a phone" *scream* *tantrum* *bit of dribble & snot*

Haha I had a feeling that it may not be a pony. It's like being a child all over again - every birthday and christmas waiting for a pony under the tree! So glad that you will still be able to buy your horse and iphones are very very nice too. Good hubby!

Haha a small part of me felt like this, but having asked for a pony for every Christmas with no joy, I am used to it!

To be fair, hairy pony isn't that much more expensive than pigging phone anyway! :D

Nevermind, moral of the story - if you want something doing, do it yourself.

There's still time ... it's only November. Maybe you'll get an iPhone and a pony?!

Either way, it sounds like he's becoming yours - how exciting :)

Have you by chance mentioned that you had hoped it was your pony? Drop a huge enough hint and it might still happen......... :)

Perhaps he has realised you suspect it may be a pony so he has bought you a phone to throw you off the scent?? !!

If he has then it's a very expensive way to throw me off the scent! I'm not sure he has though, and I'm resigned to the fact that the money I've saved to buy hairy pony and fancy saddle will be destined for this purpose. He did say yesterday when he gave me the new phone, that he has spoken to my instructor (also YO and current owner of hairy pony) to discuss the cost of full livery, and that he'd pay for that. So all in all, I don't do badly! And, also worth a mention that hubby has only seen hairy pony (from a distance) once - never even met him (not interested, bit of a humbug when it comes to furry friends).

You Lucky, lucky woman.....hope this happens for you :)

My OH brought me a new saddle for my birthday a few years ago....but, I knew about it as I had to arrange the saddler and be there to try it out.......I would love that kind of surprise......having said that he pays my livery so can't complain. :)

I really hope he has, but don't set yourself up for massive disappointment if he hasn't.
My hubby bought me my second for Christmas one year after my first died from grass sickness.

At least you're getting the pony one way or another. I was 11 when I was given my first pony as a Christmas present. I couldn't understand why I was being allowed to have a riding lesson on Christmas Day but when we arrived at the stables Willow was there with a ribbon round his neck and a card with my name on it - the next 50 Christmas Days haven't lived up to that one!

By way of an update - I'm pleased as punch to announce I now own my pony! I bought him (myself) today. It's taken 27 years, but I own an actual real pony. Feeling quite emotional. Huge pony hugs later for my boy.
Hubby will help me pay for his upkeep (he offered - a surprise given I had already decided this was a given! Haha).
All is well 🙏🏻🐴❤️
