My OH's mum has a beautiful Connemara mare who came to the yard last August and never really made any friends. She is 'civil' to the others and they are civil back but none actually want to hang around with her. So last week we gained a Clydie gelding who is 8. Well the mare is besotted with him and he loves her too! OH's mum is finding it very difficult to catch her mare as she is in season at the moment, and doesn't want to leave her boyfriend

She doesn't want to have to seperate them because they run around and get wound up when they aren't together in the field. Not sure what to do with the loved up couple because they are causing trouble!

(She did make me laugh though because the mare had her eye out just before xmas and gelding hasn't seen her like that. only with a fly mask on so OH's mum said 'shall i leave it off so he sees she only has one eye and will back off?' LOL!!

Arrr your poor mare - sounds like she's finally found a buddy - perhaps she was a bit down after losing her eye, understandable really. Glad she's having fun and is in love!!

Yes I have a 14.2hh mare Lady Tia Maria and one of her many gentleman friends the shetland always waits by the gate for her..sometimes for hours and calls for her

def the most dedicated. He also chases away other admirers - however big, apart from the top gelding of course..rather agressive for such a little pony, great fun to watch a shetland launching himself to attack a 15.2 brick S*** house cob who has dared to come to close (and suceeding)
