I left my horse in the very capable hands of Nic at Rockley yesterday. It went really well he was introduced to Nic's boys while I was there with his newly bare feet! No squealing or drama. So hopeful this big adventure helps my boy. Too manyhorses and Bensmum, your two are busy enjoying the pony spa retreat that is Rockley! Both looked very happy! Only thing missing Nic said is the fluffy robes!

PP - I'm looking forward to reading all about your boy's progress. I know you'll miss him, but he's got there safely and now he can concentrate on improving his hooves. :)

If he is okay to do the full rehab its about 3 months. Just come back from walking round his empty field! His best buddy was pleased to see me. He isn't too upset at the moment. It's so weird!

Putting two and two together, I'm guessing his blog entry was the one I read this morning :) I'll be very interested to hear how he gets on and to read all about his progress :)

Glad he got there ok and hope he settles as fast as what bo has done, before we know it we will be doing the return trip to bring them back hopefully on the road to recovery.

It was only 3 months ago the only choice I was given with her was pts now the future is looking much brighter.

Lol at the idea of them walking around with fluffy bath robes I know Brigitte would like to order hers with some bling on.

It is so important that where possible we all try and recreate the conditions that exist at Rockley and places like it in order to further the cause of barefoot.
We must never forget that horses are not born with shoes, but are born with the ability to cope without them given the right conditions.

You are so right Heelfirst. I have you to thank for helping me to decide to call Nic agai. I noe have the best chance of getting results. My situation is a livery yard but although YO not fully 'on board' yet, she is very open to helping me any way she can. So fingers crossed I can give her a crash course as I learn! Thanks again.

I've just looked at the Rockley blog - your boy is in the right place now.

I can see why you've had such a tough time. It's terrible when you realise that the bar shoes - that you were assured by the 'experts', would help your horse - have actually made things worse.

It's about a year ago since I booked my girl into the spa :) She absolutely loved being one of the gang down there and OMG what a difference it made to her feet ! I was amazed how quickly things seem to improve and Nic is the best person to have looking after them, so incredibly sane in a mad world !!

All the very best to you and your boy, I will keep watching out for his blogs and keep your chin up, you really will be amazed at how quickly time passes, you'll have an exciting spring to look forward to in no time.

Thanks everyone yes Pete is today's subject! He made friends with Dylan today too :) Think the reference to it being pony Champneys might just stick!

Pete says if you smuggle him in a polo he will be your friend forever! Good luck with getting Dylan home, what a fab Christmas present!
