I've been getting Molly over her fear and now stubborness of the trailer for four years and we were doing wonderful but now we've hit a snag. It's just her tail and I CANNOT get her to get the last, like, five inches in!!! Only her tail is sticking out but she won't put her head over the chest bar, so she gets all scrunched up in the front. It's so frustrating and I feel like I'm at the end of my rope! I'm taking her to college with me in August and she has to load by then and I don't know if we will be able to! Just a bit of a downer day...

Thanks to whoever reads my complaining :o Some cookies and ice cream for you!

Could you try putting the front bar down before you load her, so she has more room to walk forwards and isn't 'blocked' by the bar. Then when shes in, put up back bar first, ask her to step back, then put up front bar. This works with my horse. I have a single trailer though- I assume it'd work with a double. Good luck! x

Thanks magichorse. I don't know why I didn't think of that! I will defenitly try it. My only concern is that she will hurt herself somehow...thats her godgiven talent. But I will check and see if its safe

You're welcome! It'd never have occurred to me to try it, but my new instructor suggested it and it has worked for us. I completely understand your concerns about her hurting herself- I'm exactly the same.

In my trailer its possible to leave one side of the front bar 'attached' and pushed to one side. That way, all that you have to do is lift the other end into place. Good luck! :)
