Did anyone catch this episode of Horizon? It's on iPlayer if you didn't: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01cywtq/Horizon_20112012_The_Truth_About_Exercise/

I'm posting this here because it involved a demonstration in which the chap ate a big greasy fry-up and then did nothing, and ate a big greasy fry-up and then went for a brisk 90 minute walk. There was only a third of the fat circulating in his bloodstream in the second condition as compared to the first.

As I think most of us are dog walking for at least 90 minutes a day I wanted to share the smuggery. :p That enforced walk every day is greatly reducing your chances of fatty build up in arteries, type 2 diabetes etc. :)

Of course Rosehip!

(DG I walk past a spin class a few nights a week, they are inside, sweating and steaming up, I am getting blown along sideways in the wind and rain, I often wonder who is getting the better deal)

Id take the buffeting and rain slating in my face over stationary cycling in a sauna any day!! At least outside I can breathe!!
Cheers for the bun CC!! *nom* x

CC I know what your mean, my daughter works 12hour shifts sometimes without a break and when she is home she says I must go to the gym, I say save your money just take the dogs out and the bonus is fresh air. But she replies Im not up to my knees in mud and it dosnt rain in the gym.

To be fair she does walk them sometimes.:)

Those buns got cream in?

Now living away from the Ginger gobshite :( :( :( I have never been so bored in my life on the evenings that I dont walk him- not managed many so far.......

What do people without dogs DO?

Go and walk some rescue dogs if near you or offer to walk a neighbours.

Read all the dog books youve never had time to read because you were too busy dog walking:D

Lay off the buns unless you are dog walking:D

On weekdays, I GO TO THE GYM ( admittedly only to pop my son in the crèche), before walking my dog. Does that mean I can have 2 cream cakes?

:D

dont feel so bad now about eating a whole packet of wagon wheels today ! YES - 6 wagon wheels - 2 for breakfast - 2 for lunch with a sandwich and 2 cos I wanted to !!!!!

However, did 5 mile hill run/walk yesterday and couple short walks today as well as doing nags !

mmmmmmmmm wagon wheels

Couldnt do that DG- would just make me feel all the more guilty for not walking Dexie :(:(:(

Your heart will thank you CC, march on! :p

What they haven't accounted for is that dog walking can be detrimental to your health in terms of accidental injuries. Currently sporting a 4" surprisingly deep cut on my arm, newly clipped nails are bloody sharp and have ragged edges.
