On Friday evening our local equestrian centre held some unaffiliated show jump championships. To qualify you had to have got a double clear some time over the previous year. So Manni had qualified for the 85cm. Every time we went on a Friday they never ran the higher classes because of a lack of entries.

Anyway, off we went. Got there at 7pm and entered the 85cm championship, and the 95cm non-championship.

Well, there were hundreds (so it seemed) of kids in the 65cm - the class went on forever. Eventually daughter got on Manni at about 9.45 to do her class. They jumped really well, despite daughter complaining of a tummy pain. They came 6th in the 85cm championship, and won the 95cm non-championship. We eventually got home at about 11.15pm.

The next day she still had tummy pain and so by the afternoon OH took her to A&E, what with one thing and another she had to go to another hosp and has suspected appendicitis. She stayed in last night, the pain is the same this morning and so she has to stay in til tomorrow when they will do an ultra sound scan and maybe have a look with a camera through her tummy button (Yuk!).

It could also be something called Mesenteric Adenitis - which mimics the symptoms of appendicitis but in fact is harmless and is inflammation of some glands in the abdomen.

She has had this before (she is 17) about 5 years ago and also about 7 years ago - and both times the pain faded and it came to nothing.

The doc said he might just take out her appendix anyway, to rule it out. So I guess we will see what tomorrow brings and see what they can see with the ultra sound etc.

So hugs for my daughter please .....

Aw big hugs for daughter, lets hope no op needed, and big congratulations on her show jumping success, what a shame this has been somewhat overshadowed, she did great. Let us know of progress (and hugs to you for the worry of it all!)

Hugs to your daughter. I suffered from this as a child but grew out of it.
My own (now 17 ) yo daughter was one of these kids always complaining of sore tummies which would miraculously disappear around lunchtime each day. We had meetings with the school, ed psych etc etc. All in all her attendance was attrocious.
We changed her school, but she developed epilepsy also so school attendance was still an issue,
One morning we got up to the usual " my tummy hurts" (she would be around 15 at this time) and I followed the schools advice to just send her in and " we will see how it goes"
This I did and went to my own work. Around lunchtime my mother phoned me to say that the school had phoned her (at daughters request) because she didnt feel well.My mother said she was going to take her to the doctor who was not our own gp (we had moved) to which I replied that her gp would NOT look at her because she was not on his list. My mother then said she would take her to A&E. I was mega fed up because as far as I was concerned this was the usual get out of going to school nonsense and when they were finished playing silly ******* to send her home.
I returned home at 5pm having finished work for the day to be greeted by OH all dressed up looking for somewhere to go.
He had had the A&E on the phone, daughter was going to theatre in around an hours time as she had acute appendicitis!
Bad bad mother!!
Well I did tell her she would cry wolf at some point in time!!!

dont worry frozzy my friend was told off by her dad for moaning that her leg hurt. She was sent off to school. When she finally got to hospital she ended up in traction for 2 weeks due to bone infection....on Bed Pan Alley....over Christmas....:-OOO

She forgave them!

Good luck OP and daughter with the outcome, I hope op if needed goes well and she recovers very quickly, give her lots of HHO hugs!

Goodness! Best wishes to her for a speedy recovery. Very brave to carry on competing with tummy ache & doing so well too!

Keep us updated. Hope she recovers in time for some hunting!

Thanks everyone for the good wishes.

Pain is still the same today. Tomorrow morning we will see the surgeon and hopefully she will get an ultrasound or the camera thro her tummy button.

Thanks, x

Today's update - Monday. She finally had an ultrasound scan at about 4pm which didn't really show anything, although the doc had said appendix might not show on it anyway. I think they wanted to look at ovaries etc too.

So doc said she could have a bite to eat (she had been on nil by mouth all day) and he will see her in the morning.

So more waiting ......

Tuesday's update - nothing going to happen today. the pain remains the same.

Tomorrow she will have a camera in thro her tummy button so they can have a look around.

She is really bored - so bored in fact that she asked me to take her school book in!

A friend is going to visit this afternoon so that should cheer her up.

Well she finally had her appendix out yesterday evening. So glad that's over then. I read the notes the doctor had written and it says it was inflamed (good job I am used to transcribing doctor's handwriting!)

She got back on the ward at about 9pm and I stayed til gone 10pm comforting her. She was in a lot of pain and very tearful - disappointed not to be doing a hunter trial she has entered this Sunday coming!

OH is going first thing this morning for when the doctor does his rounds. Hopefully she can come home tomorrow all being well.

Thanks everyone for your good wishes.
