So the Welsh Cob & I have been dressage divas for a good 3years now...in fact the last time I had a jumping lesson was about 4 years ago  well today that all changed!

Another livery organised a show jumping clinic...and heres proof (namely for Ester & Fihunt) that we did infact jump...oh and came second in the little in house competition with a cracking clear round :D:D

Do I look a little apprehensive...

CC welcome, I know my position is shocking...I promise I did put my stirrups up :p I'm just so pleased, having never really done much jumping it was a massive confidence boost for me...I love my Welsh Cob!!

You look like you had fun :D youre jumping reasonably high, thats about as high as i jump (partly because Lady cant jump higher, and partly because my mum has a panic attack everytime i approach a jump  )

Surprisingly I really enjoyed it and I think it was a nice change for Shadow...We did start with many tiny cross poles :) but it became clear that he wasn't giving them much respect as a "jump" and slowly they crept up.

So you haven't jumped for 4 years and you're already doing higher and better than I am :p

He's so gorgeous! Well done :D

Thank you xRobyn...mind you its a TOTALLY different story from last time, when we went at the jumps at a million miles an hour :D I wasn't sure about jumping the height but he made it feel easy...I was just a passenger :)

Seriously I doubt better...I mean have you seen my stirrups in the second picture...thats 3 up from my normal length!! I do have trouble with my knees hence not keen on putting them up more and more as it hurts

Wooooo go Welshie!!! Well done. Maybe I should start jumping mine after 2 years of hacking and dressage.....

Go for it!!!! I know you're always told good flat work is the foundation for good jumping but its SO true...we've gone from taking hold of the bit & charging at the jump hoping to make it over to cantering in at whatever speed I choose, landing on the correct lead leg, clearing everything and he didn't knock a single pole...it really is a million miles away from the Welsh Cob who crashed through a jump and landed flat on his knees & face once upon a time!

yippee!!!well done tbc! looks very cool indeed! nice to see you going over to the dark side of jumping lol! love ur welshie too! who did you have ur lesson with?

Haha I don't think I'll be visiting the dark side all to often...but it certainly made for a nice change for the both of us! The lesson was with Simon Jobbins (sp?). He is actually the person who taught me last time I had a jumping lesson all those years ago...he was excellent, very patient and explained things clearly.

I never believed this until I got Belle! She just charged at jumps like a looney, no matter how big or small and I had no control. We've done lots of flatwork and poles and now she canters or trots up to jumps pretty quietly! It's very exciting. :D

You look really lovely on your Welshie and totally at home jumping together. :)
