Had an interesting conversation with a fellow Horsey friend yesterday. Her cob was put on 2 x danilon a day for arthritis. She's noticed this hasn't improved his stiffness at all, interestingly she took my recommendation on trying devil's claw and after 3 weeks he's improved so much. Has anyone else found a supplement that's better than bute/danilon. I was actually surprised, but it works for us too.

My mare was diagnosed with arthritis last year bute didn’t really work . I thought I would have to go down the injections route but a physo suggested devils relief after 3 weeks on the supplement she was completely sound it worked way better than bute. It’s crazy but I also no people who horse didn’t respond to it. I think it depends on the horse.

What devils claw supplement did you feed?

I have heard of Riaflex’s Devils Alternative, NAF Devils Relief, and Equimins Devils Claw Liquid but can’t find many reviews good and bad.

Considering it's on the FEI banned substances list, I'd assume it definitely has an effect!
An old rescue pony we had was on it for years for arthritis and it certainly made life more comfortable. We used Equimins Liquid.

This my thinking too. If it's banned, it probably works!

I have tried it with various horses over the years and it has always helped. That said, I am sure there are some horses that don't respond to it.

IME different pain relief can have markedly different effects with different horses.

I tried previcox with the Appy and it might as well have been polos but she seems to do well on boswellia, meadow sweet and willow. Bute & devils claw don't make anywhere near as much difference.

There used to be a combined supplement with devil's claw and boswellia. It was extraordinarily effective with a chunky maxi cob we had with ringbone. It took 4 Bute a day to make him sound .... Or this supplement. Sadly it seems to have been discontinued
