My new ,very green six year old ID is the worlds most bombproof youngster. I bought him on Thursday and moved him to his new home near Epsom downs. He had friday off and I took him out for his first hack out to Epsom downs BUT................................Turns out it was "racing from Epsom" . He had to walk across the course, just below a packed grandstand, and he didnt blink an eye(but he did look longingly up the straight towards Tattenham corner,...Pleeez dad!). So much stuff for a young Irish horse to look at but he was like a trained police horse. Had a marvelous hack and when we came back it was just betwean races and the security guys undid one end of the running rail so that he could squeeze through and cross the course to go home. Bless him he was as good as gold despite all the noise. Perhaps he thought everyone had turned up to welcome him:D

Aww bless him. You must be so happy with him :) Pics of him?????? He sounds gorgeous

My last baby would have given him a run for his money though! Newly backed 3 year old hannovarian out for her first ride/hack in her new home. 1st time I had ever ridden her and we are hacking out alone round a little circuit of bridleway. Beside the bridlleway is a digger pulling down a 30ft earth bank, as they have been mining there and its a quarry. In hi viz so expected digger would stop and switch off engine as they usually do. He didn't. Now I don't want to turn her for home only 200m from the stable. Her eyes were out on stalks but I gave her a hard kick and ok we did canter past the digger but she slowed pretty quick on the other side. Coming back she trotted past and the next day walked past calmly - though that driver did stop :)

None of my adult horses would have gone past. They would have turned and headed for home!

I love these type of horses that take everything in their stride. I'm too old to be dealing with spookiness and hysterics (I reserve the right to hysterics for myself). :D

My little one is the worlds most bombproof horse.

However, she is also totally dense! Does it count if she has zero brain cells?!

MY 3 yr old was ridden for the first time in May this yr and hacks out on her own and frequently ride round an old RAF airbase which is now used by quite big light aircraft. last month she had one land only 30 yards from herget halway down the runway and taxi back to its hanger. she was completely unfazed just looked.

I am not lucky enough to have a horse so went away for the week at the end of the summer holidays and i got to ride a 4 year old ID that had only been schooled for a month and by the end of the week we were jumping over fillers and jumps diagonally without batting an eye lid while some of the older ones were!! I was very proud of him :)

it sounds like you have a fab horse good luck :)
