There are some sick people in this world...

I couldn't watch past the first 20 seconds. Sick b****rds, truly. It is a shame there is nobody we can report this to, it is too sick for words. Those poor poor horses...

How on god's earth can that be classed as "sport".That is truely sick!.

Maybe you guys should watch more - animal rights bullshit with cheering put over the top, and the horses do not commit suicide, rather race downhill. Not particularly nice, but certainly blown out of proportion.

I dont think thats so. I think its possibly the most repulsive thing ive ever seen in my life. I don't think this sort of thing can be blown out of proportion really, its revolting and i think it basically speaks for itself!

Edit because i didnt mean for it to come out as it did x

I couldn't watch it because my computer is too slow for video so only get a few frames but i've seen it on Sporting Diasters and When Animal Attack and other shows like that on Sky, and it made me feel ill, i'm not sure how much you see on that clip and if you see what they do at the bottom?
Once they raced down the slope the horses have to swim across a river and out the otherside and gallop to a finish. It very sad that people find this entertaining, I put it in the ranks of bull fighting in Spain and Stallion Fighting in Asia... Sick!

17 horses, 2 go down - 15 die in 24 years - numbers seem comparable with Steeplechasing.

[/ QUOTE ]

Oh right so if you were murdered, god forbid, and somebody said 'oh well, theres still however many other million people in the world, don't worry about it' you'd feel the same? I think not!

I watched the first 30 seconds and had enough. It's sick and I'm not one for wishing someone hurt or dead - but frankily that behavior which would kill a horse, i'm afraid I wish the people who do it, all dead.

im sorry and maybe im alone in this view - that while its not the most sensible or well though out of equestrian activities its statistics are no worse than our own grand national where in excess of 30 horses throw themselves over very large fences at speed.

its simply DIFFERENT to what we are used to.
no, i wouldnt activly support it but im not going to condem it simply off a clip from Utube

the bad falls in the grand national - vidioed from a certain way and with a type of commentary would seem as bad.

,it is dark, fast and terrifying .If you think that is ok, you are in the wrong place. Animals are not machines they can be used by us but not abused.

[/ QUOTE ]
I agree. That is completely wrong, they don't deserve to be treated like that

I think people should think about what horses really mean to us and the fact that many are regularly abused in the name of 'sport', to say that any horse death is acceptable is utterly unacceptable! One of the posters on You Tube says this shows over 100 years of native american history, well, clearly they still have the mentality of 100 years ago and there is a failure to move on!
To say that qualified vets, speaking on the video are speaking animal rights b******t is small minded and I personally feel the animal rights activists are completely correct to try to have this banned!!
Whatever gave the human race the right to treat animals badly for any activity!!!
I used to watch the National with great excitment until I saw a horse break it's neck over Bechers Brook, I won't watch it and will never bet on it or watch it again!

I watched it through. IMO it is cruel and stupid (what kind of f***wit would want to risk their own neck riding that race?). At the risk of being highly contraversial, it wouldn't happen in the UK. America has some very perculiar ideas about maintaining 'the land of the free'. Animals and people pay a high price for aspects of the culture. This race, gun culture, being the self styled 'leader of the free world' and forcing themselves on others, its all part of the same thing.

I'm not saying this with the intention to cause offence to the thoughtful, questioning americans. I know there are many of those and I know from time spent in the US that its hard for them to obtain honest international news because it if doesn't fit the mainstream its called unpatriotic!

Native American Indians do many things which we may not agree with...in all walks of life, not just with horses. They are pretty much untouchable over here and the only way to stop something like this is by education not petitions. The younger members of this tribe are the ones that can do something about it in the future, but I guess it is so engrained in their culture now that that may not happen for many years.

Actually, apart from the steep hill, the rest of it looked like a neat race.

It's a race where horses have to gallop across the desert mountains, down a steep hill and then swim across a river at the bottom and then race onto the finish line. A couple of horses tumbled down the hill which is never nice, but I can't say it made me feel sick or like crying in the slightest; seemed very tame compared to many other things I've watched.

I agree with that sentiment, but I don't think its just America with problems... In Spain its Bull Fighting, In Asia its Stallion Fighting... there is very sick sports in many countries...
Then you just have the countries that want to kill everyone else and when they've had enough of killing other people they will kill each other...its a very sad world that we live in!

[/ QUOTE ] Granted about the other horse sports, but regarding your final point - what countries do you have in mind?

Didn't see anything that wanted to make me cry? All I could think of was "whoa you must be mental to want to run in that race" - You see horses doing more than that in a lot of films, westerns, etc, and horses out in the wild would run down that hill. I doubt the jockeys enter the race wanting to injure their horses
