There is bling, and there is this! Bridles anyone?

"no ugly feathery cobs like your average UK rider.... "
Oh no?;)

(Also depends on your view of ugly,I prefere au natural to shaved within an inch of their lives :D )
OH bugger bang goes that theory... but dont they call them gypsy vanners over there????

I ride my shire x cob western and our 3 quarter horses are being started western. We are looking into importing tack ourselves to go alongside our english tack to sell in the shop, never enough bling!

I used to work for a trainer out in California that did hunter/western pleasure. The outfits the ladies would wear in the show ring coupled with the amount of silver on the tack was enough to make one go blind! I never could work out how they were able to judge those classes, everyone being so gosh darn shiny.

Doesn't it just show what a boring load of old conservative farts we are in the UK! We really can't just let rip and go for something wild :o

The UK is so dull and grey isn't it?

Enjoy looking at your bling Enfys - looks like a lot of fun to me ;)

Having said all that - I don't think I will be out to buy some - not sure it would be approved of in the hunting field!! ;)

Only just saw this response! Sorry for the thread necromancy, but can't seem to be able to PM you...I was in London!

PMs turned off, sorry, some silly little bint was being a pain, I decided that if she wanted to continue with the insults she could jolly well do it publicly or not at all;)

London is an hour away from us, if that, our daughter goes to Summer Camp down in Delaware.

Gosh, NO! Can you imagine?! I love the traditionalism of the hunting field, less is definitely more. I am afraid I was one of those that tut tutted (under my breath, I would never have said anything) at even coloured saddlecloths:o

Canadians think the British tack and riding kit is awfully dull and think that we all look staid and boring in the show ring, I know that because they tell me...whereas I think the show attire here looks like a PC rally! Still...when in Rome:) It really hurt to have to put a fluffy white half pad on a hunter for shows, but that's what goes, and the wool in the plaits!... I draw the line at tail extensions though:(

Know of someone who's a horse sculptress. She did a lsheikh's favourite mare for him. He then suggested he pay an extra £5000 so she could put a bling Arab bridle on it - jewels and all! Can't remember how the story ended - perhaps she's wearing the jewels?

We went to an Arab show on Sunday my Trainer was riding my friends horse in competition for the first time.

Lorra lorra bling, my favourite was the lady in the cream suede chaps, tiger print slinkie top, Crystal studded belt, big scarf, lots of diamonds and a huge black stetson.....fabulous:-)) Horse had a western saddle that had so much silver it must have been worth a fortune.

We told my friend (who thinks that wearing a pale blue t-shirt rather than a navy one is risque!) that now her horse was ok to enter into competitions we would have to get her some bling she looked horrified and refused to go into the Tack Tent in case we insisted she try some on

Am I allowed to admit that I have bought myself a very beautiful Dark Blue Stetson with a blue and silver studded hat band, purely to wear at shows
