... than taking your hat off after you come out of the arena, then putting it back on 15 minutes later to take the horse up the field, and the sweaty bit from your forehead is now damp and cold rather than just damp.

Or leaving your hat in reach of horse over night with a bag of minty sweets in it when he also has access to a brown treacly likit.............. and needing it for a lesson the next day. Yuk!
