Well most of you will know the heart ache i had had with my tb. Well its been a year now since he was last ridden, he now has all his hoof boots and is about 95% sound! vet has given us the go ahead and he is now back in work!! But lunging is abit of a no no as he wont stay in walk on the lunge and circles are no good for his hocks. So today i got on him :-) he has been walked out inhand a few times since last year and lunged a couple of times to take some steam out! other than than he has been sat in a field looking handsome! He was abit silly being tacked up as someone was off in the lorry and he got rather excited when the ramp went down ;-) Got on him in th school to make sure we were safe to go, went up the lane and round a field all in walk. :-D abit joggy in the field but still all done on the buckle! Now i dont think there are many you could get on after a year and take up the road and round a large field :-D and stay in walk on the buckle the whole time :-D I do love my horse and am rather excited about him being back in work :-) but the temptaion to go down the beach for a good blast is unreal!! iv got to take it extra slow :-( walking for the next six weeks it is then ;-) Any of your horses fantastic like mine :-D
Gutted i had no one with me to take a photo of me on him but i did get one of him standing on the yard tacked up and with his hoof boots all round.

Bet you feel so happy!

I've had my tb 11 weeks and so far she's been amazing. Broke my back in April & had a problematic horse before her. She's restored my confidence to the point that we did our first show last Sunday and came third - it was my second time jumping since my accident.

Have to admit I believed the stereotypes about tbs prior to having one!

Well done you! I got on my TB gelding after he had about nine months off after he had fractured his leg - straight out on the roads, no problem. He is a star.
The TB mare on the other hand is a different kettle of fish. NO WAY would I get straight on her after time off!

thats fab laurenM! they are such rewarding creatures!! Mine taught me so much and has served me well, he is only 13 but its 50/50 as to wether he will be sound enough to continue competing! he will no longer jump, but i was seeing a big showing career ahead of him, but we will see what next spring brings! I would NEVER get on my mare after that lenght of time! she gets a wiz on the lunge before i get on even after a week off!! nightmare! cant beat a good ex racer! i will attemp to load the photo of him tacked up and ready for the off!

my little wippet ready for the off! its like riding a broom stick! amazing how much muscle they loose!

thats fantastic news (: he deffinatly did you proud!

i like to think my 3YO PBW is like that, i never have to lunge her, no matter if shes had 2 days off or three weeks and never had to lunge her when i was breaking her, have always just hopped on and shes always the same! Bliss! shes the best behaved out off all the other horses on our yard my mums 6yo, and my YO's 21yo and her 18yo! saph (21yo) took off in the woods the other day and maii (6yo) and lanti(18yo) all followed but Pip, 3yo, good as gold carried on walking on the buckle untill we found the other naughty horses!!

I'm glad he was good:D I ride two tb's (my own and my friends) any way, my horse( who was only 5 at the time) hadn't been ridden for nearly 4 months due to head shaking and recently i jumped on her and shes was perfect. And my friends horse suffered from a shoulder injury and was lame hadn't been ridden for over a year and about 2 months ago i brought him back into work and he didn't jog, spook, do anything wrong at all.:)

My daughters horse is gorgeous as the horses nannan I could kiss the face of her because we have onlyhad her 7 weeks and she hasnt put a foot wrong has done anything my daughter has asked and has done so wilingley and with grace. What a good boy! My 19yr old TB hadn't been ridden since early January due to a check ligament injury - got on him 2 weeks ago for a couple of circuits round the school, good as gold :D
