There really are some shocking riders out there....

I really don't think it can have been a 2?! I recently read a judges comment on the bottom of a sheet (not mine but won't go into any detail to save any chance of identifying whose!) that was VERY negative about the riding, for two main reasons which were explicitly described by judge. Same comments were made throughout test sheet, scores were 5's all the way with the odd 4/6 and the riding was given a 4. I can't imagine any judge, let alone a listed one which I am assuming it was at AM, giving 8 all the way then a 2?!?

There is no way in hell any BD judge would be giving a collective 2 for rider in a row of 8's when the movement marks were 7's/8's it's just NOT how dressage is judged! I wrote for a judge the other week judging Medium, and one rider in particular was just bullying her horse constantly, it couldn't have the beautiful free movement it obviously did have underneath because she had it held down in a double with arms of steel. The judge said to me, 'you watch, it'll tell her it's had enough in a minute' and sure as hell 4 movements in in a half pass the horse went SOD YOU and went up. The rest of it's test was hellish. You could see how talented the horse was (and we happened to know who had trained it and to what level) but the rider was just appalling and really ruined what was a fine animal.
The judges marks reflected this however and the sheet was mainly 5's and 6's and a 2 for the vertical ;) half pass. At the end of the test the judge said she felt loathe to give the horse a 5 for it's paces etc as he really was lovely but due to the way he was ridden, and in line with the movement marks she had to. She also gave the rider a 5 - which is the lowest score she's ever given, and wrote a pointed comment about letting the horse move and maybe understanding what was required at medium level a little more. She said she'd have loved to give her a 3 for riding but as her movement marks were 5's/6's she couldn't.

It was very probably a 7, add the colls up to see.

Even in my recent tests where lumi was getting 4,5,6' abd 7's - u was still getting 7 and 8's for my collectives! Go away trolly, and take a dressage book to read under your bridge!

I too have discovered what a troll is today. thank you to to the person who posted the explanation!

I rode BD. and no, the 2's can not be correct.

Judging aside, think of this in terms of the horse and it's way of going. high scores such as 8's are difficult to achieve consistently throughout a test even with a true partnership - certainly if they haven't been riding regular or training etc...

My retired advanced horse would have worked in a 'reasonable' outline with a numpty rider onboard, but not a perfect one, and certainly not consistent to score 8's - there would have been confusing signals from the rider.
He would have shown resistence, perhaps tension or hollowed slightly if they were unbalanced, I think he would have freaked out if anyone would have pulled his mouth.
If the horse is moving well enough to score 8's then the rider is not scoring 2's simple as that really.

Check the handwriting.

thanks for the troll explanation, I think there is a typo and its supposed to be an 8 or a 7, my handwriting is bad enough to make numbers look different anyway!

I think the OP may have been stirring as they haven't responded to any following posts!
