..it only had two working legs

went to see the £800 4yr Tb cruise missile gelding, and OMG! his fetlocks were nearly on the ground! no way he would stay sound poor chap, wish they had said something when i asked what his conformations was like, oh well, all experience and what not! this horsehunting is turning into a bit of a nightmare!

no, the grey was perfect apart from he couldnt jump bless him, think someone on here has bought him after i posted about him, so he has a nice new home,

this was the cheap tb that seemed to good to be true

off to see chestnut again, and a 15.2hh tb on sunday who sounds lovely, aparently he is quite sharp, and is definatly going places so you never know

he was a lovely boy, they only bought him 5 months ago so not sure why they did, it is hardly something you wouldnt notice, dont know what will happen to him
 
I replied to your orginal post and mentioned that it was very odd how cheap he was and that breeders dont normally hang on to them until they are four, unless they are waiting for them to grow and hide awful faults.

I was really surprised at some of the posts you got back, saying that the price and sound of it were ok, I had mentioned that cheap horses that are good are like gold dust.

I am sorry to hear that I was proved correct on this matter and that your time was wasted.

If you are looking in that price bracket and want a young horse with perfect confirmation I would suggest you go the the t.b racing sales. You can always be guaranteed to pick one up for that price that is well bred, but not the grade for racing but will go on to event and do other things.

Again you need perfect confirmation, the legs being the most important aspect when you are looking at a young horse, to ensure its future soundness.

Good luck, you will find one, follow my suggestion and look in the right places and you sound have a good choice of horses.
 
once upon a time i took a chance on a cheep horse..... i still have him although he now he stands me at about £4000 he has had upward fixation of the petella in both legs! we have had them opperated on now and we are just starting to break him in! fingers crossed!! but i wouldnt advise this to anyone the emotional rollercoaster is draining! but i had bought him before it became evident and what do you do when you love them??!!
 
thanks for the advice, fortuently after posting about him on here i went prepared for a disaster so wasnt to much of a disapointment, will keep looking, have a bit more than that to spend just couldnt not go and see him as you never know, hopefully next one will be better
 
Having had several very cheap yet well bred horses, i can tell you they are out thier, particularly if your willing to put up with personality quirks! however you do get the ones with massive soundness problems. But dont give up hope.
