At the yard this evening a supposed 'knowledgeable' person asked me why my horse was off work after seeing her trot up in a straight line. I decided she was a bit short on a straight line and so tried her on a circle, which confirmed she was definately lame. I was told by the 'knowledgeable' person to just ride her in straight lines because she thought she was ok like that!
Oh dear the others think this women does no wrong and is a fountain of knowledge! help i think they are mad or is it just me?!

At the end of the day, its your horse and you know it best and if you decide its not right, then that's it really!
It's one thing saying you cant see it but to try and advise against resting possibly lame horse is not right
Just ignore them, your horse, end of

But straight lines are so passe

It was almost as good as the day she told another girl if she rode her horse more it would put weight on.....

Pmsl! You'd be ok if you had a nice long roman road to ride along, but of course you couldn't turn round to come home again! Some people are just mad, like the woman at a yard I was once at that would go round weighing everybodys haynets to see if they were overfeeding their horses!! She had a right go and one girl that she was feeding way too much hay, but the haynet she had weighed had just been soaked!! Not that it was any of her darn business in the first place!! A lot fed ab lib hay anyway.

Hope your mare gets better soon x

Just put the idea past my mum. she says once i have run out of road she will park trailer at the end so we can walk lucy straight on therefore no need to turn round at all!! What do you all think?!

I hope your horse gets better soon. Its like a hunting familiy I used to be head groom for,I had been saying for a month one of the horses was lame, they kept arguing with me it wasnt, then finally after telling the wife again he was lame she said we will see what you mean tonight and when my husband comes home from work we will have him trotted up and you explain to us what you mean. So that evening I trotted him up and the horse was blatantley lame near fore. They still persisted to say it wasnt, the wife said what do you mean, so in laymans terms I tried to say he was limping and watch his head nod, so trotted him up again, then the wife proceeded to say "I see what you mean about the head nodding, but if you held the leadrope tighter under his chin he wouldnt nod"!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well I about fell over laughing, they couldnt understand why I thought their comment was funny.
Anyway finally they still said I was making it up but told me to take him to the vets, the outcome was he had ringbone, and an artheritic coffin joint. The sad thing about it was these people called themselves proffesionals!
