Thermal imaging

Veterinary Thermal Imaging are definitely worth a call, and if you mention the ERA discount they might be nice! or, if you pm me I will send you a voucher if you want, I still have some left from the ERA Summer Party. 50% off first booking...
I've found Thermal Imaging really really useful, fwiw.

There is veterinary thermal imaging in Nottingham, although they are a lot more expensive that visible equine.

There is a chap in hull as well. Don't think he's been doing it long, but might be worth asking for a quote?

I had been recommended thermal imaging for my lad. Got it done, and it showed up issues in jaw and shoulder. Got vet out for full check up, xrays, and there were no issues with jaw or shoulder. The horse DID have kissing spines and a sacroliliac issue, neither of which came up on thermal scan at all.

Chatted to the vet about it (who is young and into technology) and he said he had looked into getting one, but upon research, a huge hospital yard in ireland use them but then when they compare the scan to the actual findings there they often find the scans don't pick up the issues. So he said he wouldn't trust them.

I still haven't a clue how the scan showed such heat on one side of the horse's shoulders. It was very obviously different from the other. But vet checked EVERYTHING and found no issue. So i don't trust those scans now. I feel i wasted money on it.

In response to paddi - something like KS would be more likely show up if you did a before and after exercise scan I'm guessing? I would certainly try it as although it might not always be right it's likely to pinpoint an area to investigate, which if you are using this method means you are probably starting at square 1.
