Thermal wellies

Muck Boots.
Wore them all day today for the first time ever, still cosy warm tootsies when I came in when it was dark. Love 'em.

Too right:) I have three pairs of Heat Holder so (it was -3) and my feet were lovely and warm. Wish they made tights as well !!

I got these from TK Maxx (my FAVOURITE shop!!) for £2.50 - they were so wonderful I went back to get more for me and some for my friend with the broken leg (her toes get very chilly)!

I want some warm boots that I can ride in as well - any ideas?
 
Muck boots again - the tyne version is made to ride in. You may just need wider stirrups though, as they are very chunky. Mountain horse rimfrost rider was also a good riding boot, but mine wore out after a season and a half, which I was a bit disappointed in really.

Wouldn't be without my muckboots now. Trouble is because they have kept my feet so warm they got all stinky from the sweat :eek: so they have had a little wash and are currently drying next to the radiator.
 
Have mentioned these on other threads and am also not on commission!!! But Dublin neoprene lined wellies which I got from Equestrian Clearance are brilliant and much cheaper than the posher ones. I've also now got a pair of Cabotswood leather country boots which are waterproof and breathable - they are also really warm without the sweaty socks!!
 
Muck boots - was in tears the beginnng of last winter as my feet (despite posh wellies, fleece warmers, ski socks etc) were so so cold - just dead white cold, not fun! Have the tay sport muck boots now (they have fleece as well as the neoprene) as I wanted the warmest wellies I could find. I winced at the price, but after having them I would pay double and still be happy! They are the absolute best things ever and I have never had cold feet at all in them (even in -10 blizzards last year going out to feed early lambs!). Just the best invention ever. As soon as you put them on you will forget how ugly they are and you will just be super snug and happy!
 
I like my new neoprene lined Hunter Balmoral wellies - not too expensive and keeping my feet warm enough. You can also wear them in the spring/summer etc without your feet getting too hot - a problem I found with the muck boots.
 
Ive had those aussie soles snug boots from equestrian clearance, I suffer badly from cold toes they become painful and these cheap boots have a furry sole and ugg type tops with wellie bottoms my feet have been lovely and warm while doing the horses.

Muck boot co AVON I love mine and will defo be replacing them with the same, they are effective to -20, very comfortable and VERY GOOD IN THE ICE AND SNOW !

I also recommend ice grippers you can get from betterware
 
I LOVE my Hunter Balmoral wellies. They are neopreme (sp?) lined so are very toasty on your feet and legs and are very comfy :)

It was minus 10 when I arrived at work yesterday and my feet were lovely and warm in some thick joules socks and my wellies.
 
Wow thanks for all your feedback, I've been doing lots of googling! I've decided to settle on the new Nevis Muck boots, fingers crossed they keep my feet toastie warm, if not watch this space!

I'm considering a pair of these but not sure on sizing - size 4's are sometimes a bit big - are they generous or average sizing?

If you don't want to splurge out on a pair of thermal wellies or boots, even regular boots become nice and warm if you wear them 1-2 sizes to big, with thick wool socks on top of thin socks. Small boots feel colder since there is no space for insulating air :-)

By the way, if you are are really cold it may help to avoid cotton as the inner layer since it does not keep you warm if it gets wet.

A thin thermal sock in a wicking material + huge 100% wool sock + boots that do not fit too tightly over all of that = nice and warm :-)
