If for you, I have found Howies' merino to be the business. Uniqlo's heatTech tops are a cheap and cheerful alternative.

Not online, but I got mine from TK Maxx, I think they're called Base Layer?

Made for skiing/winter sports rather than riding but fab, long enough to tuck in properly, really warm. & wash well. Good value too

I use the clothing from "mountain warehouse". We have a discount designer centre near us with a store. They do thermal base layers there, along with warm none bulky fleeces, thermal socks, gloves etc. We all stock up there, its cheap and warm!!

I have Nike Dry Fit that I got in America and they are amazing, I am never cold, it only they done socks!

These are brilliant - and you will often find them in TK Maxx. This website has them on sale at the moment. I actually live in baselayers all winter!!!

Yes, they can be - tops, tshirts, leggings, vests, undercrackers, anything really!
