Thermatex leg wraps

Can you leave them on all night if you put them onto wet legs? About twice a week I wash the mud off Barons legs then put on this sponge on mud fever stuff. I put on his leg wraps to dry his legs off.

But I wondered, can I leave them on all night or will this just keep his legs damp? Does the water stay on the outside of the wrap or does it eventually soak back in?

Sorry if I sound toatally thick but I hate having to wait around for ages for his legs to dry. And if I can leave them on I may wash the mud off every day then just pop the wraps on, take them home in the morning to dry out then put them on again the following night, should keep him warmer aswell

You can leave them on all night...but try leaving them on for a day first to check that they don't slip down and trip the poor boy up.
When the water evaporates from the legs...it won't return...

I thought it just soaked into the wraps. Now I think about it its quite obvious, the water is wicked away but the heat from the leg causes it to evaporate.

I will stop the silly questions now

They dont slip, hes been in the horse walker with them on

If you leave them on overnight the bonus is they're nice and dry in the morning, as the heat from your horse's legs will have dried them out. So added benefit!

Ronnie was pretty warm with his on overnight, so I'd consider putting a slightly thinner rug on than normal.
 
yes you can leave them on overnight. i find they leave my horses legs dry and quite warm

i know mine definatly dont slip when my dad (who is not horsey) turned my horse out in the field with them and they stayed on all day! was just glad they hadnt been trampled into the mud!

There were different colours on ebay the other week when we looked for OH's mare - ours are all navy - mine are at least 6 years old now and like new apart from restitching on a velcro strap - would definitely always go for the cordura outer ones though
 
Yes they can be left on indeed they should be, Therematex has some sort of one way layer that stops moisture being wicked back inside. Best thing since sliced bread for mud fever prone types.
 
I won a set the other day. They're brill.

I've used them on my youngster so she can get used to wearing boots and having the velcro ripped off. They stayed on her a treat even though she had a little suck of them..Yeuk!!!

thermatex don't do as many colours i don't think

colin cook/thermalux do a range of colours. my pony has lilac and purple!

as for leaving leg wraps on over night - if he has mud fever or is prone make sure they legs are really well washed. as you dont want any scraps of mud left on the leg - then with a wrap over the top that will keep leg warm and open pores and let the dirt in.
