Thermatex v Weatherbeeta Thermocell v Mark Tood Coolex?

If you can stretch to a thermatex, go for it. I havn't tried the Mark Todd, but the weatherbeeta is ok, not amazing, but does a reasonable job. It isn't the warmest rug, as unlike the thermatex it is only 1 layer thick. So actually thermatex's are probably better value, for the amount of material you get (if you see what I mean!)

thermatex every time. if you are used to a thermatex you will be disappointed in a cheaper imitation! buy cheap buy twice! wait a little and save up the difference!

The Coolex rugs are excellent, wick just as well as the thermatex but don't stretch so fit better I find. It is a nice thick rug like the thermatex too. I've had both (horse came with an ancient thermatex which eventually fell apart), and I'll buy a coolex again over a thermatex.

Same as SC, would definitely prefer the coolex over the thermatex, better rugs imho. Friend's on the yard have thermatex but I personally much prefer the coolex. I don't rate the weatherbeeta thermocell at all, they feel very "stiff" and shrink when they're washed (atleast, my friend's did!)

PS Old-dairysaddlery.co.uk stock the coolex and have 10% off til Monday

I love the Weatherbeeta rugs and they are good, but they aren't as good as Thermatex IMO. Haven't tried Coolex, but have always been interested as they look good. I get my Thermatex on ebay - keep an eye out as even the old ones with snags are great and last forever.

Thermatex. Mine are at least 10 years old and still going strong. They wash well, go in the tumble dryer and they come in a multitude of colours!

I have thermatex and coolex and I'd say I prefer the coolex. I'm guessing they're cheaper than thermatexes too, though I cant remember how much my coolex was.

I have a number of Thermatex rugs but actually prefer my Lansdowne thermatex style rug as it is cupped on the shoulders and the front buckle doesn't slip so the rug sits better on the withers.

I have two WB thermo-cell combos and use them lots - they don't stretch or slip back over the shoulder like thermatex.
I have a grey show cob, and they wash and wear brilliantly - i wash mine after each use.

I bought a weatherbeeta combo one or my mare, and its great!

Thermatex's are good for drying, and travelling, and day rugs but i wouldnt use as under rug in field for eg. as they have roko buckles which are more likely to slide undone. I have a 6'3 one for sale if interested

the Aerborn Colin Cook ones are fab, i have a thermy ex sheet from them which i love!

The coolex's are good but not keen on the hoods.
