it says some thing about charges, does any body know if i have to pay to park my horsebox and how much is it, also do they have to pay to take their bikes. I have to go to Santon Downham is this right, once i get there is it sign posted where i need to go.

I haven't taken a horse up the Thetford Forest, but have been loads of times. It is huge, so I don't know which part you are going to, but in the main areas you have to pay to park cars, horseboxes etc. You don't have to pay for bikes.

Yes, head for Brandon/Santon Downham and it is signposted.

Its lovely out there, you will have a great time. Just check human and horse legs for ticks when you get back - we have come back on more than one occasion with an univited visitor hitching a lift on a human or a dog

There is information here on how to get there and facilities etc. It doesn't mention the parking fee though, but OH thinks it was about £4 for the day. Don't quote me on that though!

There are places where you can just pull off the road and not pay, but if you go to the main areas you have to pay to park.

eta, this is taken from the website:

A policy of Open Access exists in Thetford Forest for horse riders, as a consequence there are very few waymarked trails. Ordnance Survey map Explorer 229 shows the area owned by the Forestry Commission and open to the public for horse riding. We recommend that the areas north of the railway line are the most suitable as this is away from the the main concentation of visitors using High Lodge and the cycle trails. All forest users must heed notices in the forest especially those referring to 'Forest Operations'. For CARRIAGE DRIVERS we recommend parking and deboxing along the Lime Tree Avenue or at the Forest Offices, both at Santon Downham.

Thanks for that, i was reading it earlier. It says about paying to get in, but does not tell you anywhere how much it is and i tried ringing the phone number to find out but they are only there Monday to Friday.
