Thetford Suffolk - Many Show centres near it?

My friend is thinking of moving to Thetford. How horsey is it and what show centres/BE is near there.

We are really spoilt here, so is it a good place to live if you mainly do BSJA?

Also does anyone know of any livery yards?

plenty of horses there i used to live there but show centres were a bt thin on the ground at the time we used to go to esssex quite a bit. probably better now and decent road links cos of the docks in one dierrection and newmarket in the other x
 
Suffolk is nothing compared to the SW in horsey terms

Thetford is the Cambs/Peterborough/South Norfolk end of Suffolk, so that opens up a few more options, like Manor Farm for lower level BSJA. There's also Newton Hall nr Ipswich for BSJA, but the surface there is awful and then The Jays is quite close to Thetford I think.

BE wise there's Poplar Park on the east coast, nr Woodbridge, Isleham in Cambs, Great Witchingham and Burnham Market in Norfolk. If your friend ventures south a bit then Towerlands is not far off the A12 nr Braintree.

Its not awful really, and she could certainly fill her weekends if she doesn't mind travelling a bit, but it's nowhere near as good as the SW, but it does have the plus point of being able to add to one's collection of useless bay thoroughbreds easily

The indoor surface at Newton Hall is lovely!! Outdoor inst great but all the comps are indoor.

You have the Jays too, and Poplar, there is a new centre opening up somewhere near Debenham soonish which will hold affilated comps.

Its isnt great but could be worse, just have to be prepared to travel an hour to get anywhere, but then I have to do that to get to anything from mine anyway

Its ok, there seem to be plenty of places to go, ILPH does stuff and Overa Farm does BSJA and they are very close to Thetford. I live just outside Thetford (for my sins) so if your friend needs help with livery yards pm me.
