In the past 3 months our yard has been targeted twice by metal thieves. The power lines to the yard are above ground & on 2 occasions they have cut through & stolen the earth cable. When this is done a power surge comes down the lines & blow out most electrical things. Last time it knackered the fridge, freezer, microwave, dvd player, TV, alarm system, yard lights, electric gates, etc etc…..a right expesive nightmare.
In early hours of Tuesday morning they struck again & cut cables but were disturbed & they dumped a car, tools & some clothing & gloves adjacent to & on our paddocks.
Enquiries revealed their identities & 5 have been arrested, 3 Romanian men & 2 Romanian women. The men were cutting the cables etc & the 2 women were driving a van dropping off & picking up the men. This activity has been happening all around our area so these people have a lot to be questioned about. Let’s hope they get a decent sentence & then having served their time they are sent back to Romania.
