It is the 4th birthday of my big ginger girl today, yes she is an April Fool , so I thought I would do a quick update of how she has changed between when I bought her as a 2yo and now for anyone interested . I had a lot of great help off this forum when I first bought her, having previously never owned anything so young, and in particular advice regarding feeding was very helpful.
I fell in love with this carrot orange lass a couple of years ago.
After flying through her vetting she came home to me as an all but un-handled youngster with no name, but was passported as Wonderland. I wasn't shouting that up the field so Alice she became!
My mare promptly decided she was her long lost foal and took her under her wing refusing to let any of the others near her for the first week.
She has taken everything in her stride, from her first time with a headcollar and lead, first time in a horsebox, being stabled, groomed & rugged, to bitted, saddled and sat on, and has been a true delight to own . She is an absolute softie and a true people horse, and has never once nipped or kicked out at me, and adores having her gigantic ears brushed and stroked. After being taken for a few inhand walks and being sat on twice in the yard during summer after she turned 3, she has been left to be a baby, and will start the groundwork for backing again properly once I have finished my finals in summer . I can only hope she will be as much of a sweetheart to back properly and ride away.
Here she is as a lanky 2 1/2 yo.
And as a 3 1/2 yo.
She is now 17.1hh and a true gentle ginger giant! I don't have any really recent photos of her as the weather has been so horrid so here is a cute ginger clashy clashy one instead!
