Thanks for your kind words everyone, I thought I would share this with you. I just remembered a poem I wrote, for a barnmice competition, this time last year. It was one of the winning entries and was about Cat. My laptop is still broken so I had to search the barnmice archives for it but I just found it and thought that I would share it with you all in her memory. To be honest, it pretty much applies to my journey with Will too, it's just me and Will had that jorney so very many years ago its a distant memory now, but it fits for them both. Anyway here it is...
PARTNERSHIP
(To my wonderful chestnut mare)
I run a loving eye over your glistening, rich russet coat,
Its dapples and shine radiate your health, your happiness,
It shows nothing of your past, no glimmer of pain, no hint of fear.
I touch you, with a steady, calming hand and gaze into your eyes.
Soft, warm whickering breaths are returned to me,
You show no sign of tension, no flicker of fright, no ounce of uncertainty.
And then I realise,
How I have succeeded where others have failed,
How we have conquered the doubts, the ridicule, the 'impossible'.
How my dear friend have we ended up here?
It seems so simple now, all that was lacking from your past,
All that you needed for your future , all that now makes us great...........
Oh Vizslak I am so so sorry. I know how you must be feeling and I can only hope that you also feel a strange sort of relief now that it is all over. I know I did even through the pain and heartache.
Good night, God bless Will and Cat. Keep an eye on your Mum for a while.
Hugs J X
