So as some have followed
Chance has been moving yards this week, which has been difficult for me due to some "prickly" personalities to do with shall we say,
any way he was due to move on Saturday, all his stuff was in the boot of my car on Wednesday night.. i say boot i had the back seats full, boot full and my poor passenger had his saddle of her lap. i am 99% sure i was possibly illegal but i wont be doing it again and it was 9 pm at night so no one on the roads!
any way yesterday a friend came to collect his stable mats in her wagon (she had been dropping a horse of else where so it made sense) it was belting with rain, havnt seen rain like it in a good few years now, i did wonder if i would need to get chance some water wings for the night in the field.. oh how wrong was i !
so with out much hesitation Jane (wagon owner and friend) just says "well lets take him to saves coming back Saturday" just like that melt down went in my head, I am a people pleaser i dont like to rock the boat as it where and having to tell some people at the yard i was leaving had already done that so leaving early worried me, but i had paid til Sunday so i wasn't leaving any one out of pocket. Plus i had already lost many a night of sleep and thrown up 3 times in the last 5 days, what more could i loose?
so i peeled the wet turn out rug of chance, in to the living it went, popped on his fleece and just like that he went straight up the ramp and stood there like he belonged, over the summer he has been in and out of a trailer but is very "sticky" to load so i had visions of a battle to begin but how wrong was I, he stood happily in there for a further 30 mins wile we dragged stable mats in, 6 bags of shavings and 4 bags of wood pellets, happily just watching me come back and talk to him from the bottom of the ramp every time i felt like i couldn't cope, all the wile the rain just kept coming.
so that was it all was in, chance was happy and off we set, we had to take a mini de-tour as the road we normally use had become flooded with all the rain, so off we set to peel to then come back on our selves towards Douglas, then out to Laxey, i followed in my small car.
arrived at the yard, the wagon stopped, a every thing was silent, BOOM! the ramp went down, and there was his little face poking out from under the hay net at me, i may be by-est but he was a lovely face when he has his ears forward! any way of we set on dragging mats in, all hands where on deck, new yard owner her husband, my husband and her daughter along with me and Jane, mats in and bed was down in under 20 mins, so i wobbled up the wagon ramps and gentle lent over the partition to whisper (i thought i was whispering) please be good.. new yard owner heard me and yelled "if he isn't we will sort it!" and to every ones surprise he just wondered down behind me, along the corridor and in to his stable, had a quick roll then begun to munch, before the mare next door booted the wall (her window/bars, are going to be boarded over) made every one jumped, Chance he snorted at her and turned his back to eat his net again.
so ive moved, im excited to see him after word, which i haven't been in a long time, i am still getting hassle from old yard people "you didnt tell me" or "its very rude to just leave" but the yard owner knew and was fine, and for the past 10 mins been googling how to block people!
but i am so proud of chance, as i spiralled in my own head, was ready to cry and completely terrified he stood tall like a real gent, how is it that just know when we need them?
PS baking cookies tonight, if you made it this far call back after 9pm they will be fresh out the oven
