They shall not grow old....

I work at Heathrow, and they stop all the planes for two minutes. Its lovely. Not there this year, did my two mins alone on the yard.

Great idea for a thread. To all the servicemen that lost their lives, "We will remember".xx

I wish some of our younger, spoilt generation, that waste money on drink, drugs, that abuse the older war veterans that are remaining, that have "posh" mobile phones, Ipods, laptops, (luxuries) money for fags - will cast their minds to those who have GIVEN their LIVES, so that they may live in relative calm and security in this Country.

This day is becoming more and more important as time passes. As the war Veterans pass on, to a better world (I hope!) all that will remain, are the pictures/vids and stories......

I am the youngest in my office (20) and the only person to stop everything and remember. Everybody else (50+ men) carried on what they were doing. We even had a phone call in the middle of it.

Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori.

A very poignant post OP. I live just by the National Arboretum, and pulled over to observe the 2mins silence. I was very supprised at how many kept about their business.
My Cousin is in NI at the moment, and has done 2 tours of Afganistan, I remember all those fallen in the hopes that he wont fall!
To all those who have given their lives, I salute you

Remembrance Day and Remembrance Sunday get me every year! no matter how hard I try I still cry!

We used to parade in a village where a man laid a wreath for his 5 brothers, he was the only one that survived, it was such a poignant image seeing him being helped by his great grandchildren, I was gutted the year he wasn't there. I remember seeing him the first year and trying not to cry, looked around and a lot of my cadets and my fellow sergeant were all blubbing!
