Belle can get nappy, stressy and a general pain when hacking on her own, but in company is a totally star! Will go first or last and totally bomb proof.
I have read different posts advicing different things and one that kept coming up was singing. So after a tootle in the school I put on my brave knickers and wandered out. She was a bit unsure so I started to sing (all the pretty little ponies of course) and she was totally chilled! Car pasted and all was fine, I wasn't singing loudly but loud enough that when a small group of cyclist all gave me very weird looks! Must think I'm crackers now! The girl that rides her horse and sings!

But oh well as Belle was a star and I'm so proud of her!! Tea and cake for all that read :)
 
TBH I sing to ponio when I'm feeling a bit stressed or play music loud on my phone and sing along. I find it very relaxing - I do get strange looks but I'm into heavy metal so I'm used to that xD
 
I used to sing to my old boy. He used to be sedated to be shod and I would stand with him and just sing softly - farrier thought I was crazy! I also used to have a full blown conversation with him while we were riding a XC course! I just used to talk the whole time, telling him which fence was coming next, which way we needed to turn afterwards, how many fences were left, telling him how amazing he was once we were over each fence! Was probably more for me than him as he could have done it with his eyes shut, but it worked, we always went clear. Fence judges must have been like "oh no, here comes the chatter box again!" :)
 
You are not mad at all lol.... In group lessons when we are jumping to de stress everyone you hear everything from the theme tune to follyfoot farm, nursery rhymes to show tunes being sung on approach to fences lol.
 
If I read that right, you went out in your brave knickers? Now, I don't know what your brave knickers look like, maxi pants or racy thong, but depending on what else you were wearing, or not, that may be the reason for the weird looks. :D
 
Our indoor school has music playing in it .... People often walk past while in I'm there..and hear me singing away ....'all the single ladies, all the single ladies , put ya hands up ...........' must remember to treat pony to ear plugs for Christmas ! :)
 
Yesterday I rode with my iPod in for the first time, and my ponio went amazingly. I put it down to the fact that I wasn't so focused on him and was more relaxed myself. definitely a convert to schooling to music!
 
Hymns are really good to sing when out - my favourite is Sing Hosanna! You can really let rip on the chorus. Also, Bread of Heaven, I Vow to Thee My Country and All Things Bright and Beautiful!

It's always "Postman Pat" when jumping, as it has a nice rhythm.
